AGENDA ITEM
Regular Board of Trustees Meeting
of
September 27, 2011
SUBJECT: Surplus Property
FROM: Rania Serences, Purchasing Clerk
BUDGET SOURCE/BUDGET IMPACT: N/A
RECOMMENDED MOTION: I move that the Village Board adopt the attached ordinance
authorizing the sale of surplus items.
Background/History:
The attached ordinance authorizes the sale of various copier toner, two copier imaging units, a
dictaphone, a typewriter, and two floor cleaning machines. These items have either reached the
end of their useful life, are obsolete, or are no longer needed since the functions they perform can
now be done on a computer.
The Village will first register the items with an online auctioneer run by the State of Illinois,
known as iBid. If inadequate or no bids are received through the online auction, staff will
advertise for bids in the local newspaper. If no bids are received through the newspaper
advertisement, items will be offered to local schools, churches and not - for - profit agencies. Any
remaining items will be disposed of.
Recommendation:
Staff recommends that the Village Board adopt the attached ordinance authorizing the sale of
surplus items.
