RECOMMENDED MOTION: I move to pass Ordinance G -845, AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING THE PERMITTED USES FOR A CLASS A -1 LIQUOR LICENSE
AND AMENDING CHAPTER 1 (LIQUOR CONTROL) OF TITLE 4 (BUSINESS AND
LICENSE REGULATIONS) OF THE VILLAGE CODE OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK
BROOK
Background /History:
Nieman Marcus will be holding a series of events where they want to distribute alcohol in
conjunction with trunk shows and other special events. The President and Board of Trustees
have directed the Village Attorney to draft this Ordinance which amends Chapter 1 (Liquor
Control) of Title 4 (Business and License Regulations), in regard to Class A -1 - the retail sale of
alcoholic liquor for consumption on the premises where sold - to allow the distribution of
alcoholic liquors for consumption in combination with a special event or sale which is by
invitation only and not open to the general public.
Recommendation:
I recommend that this Ordinance be considered for passage.

As you are aware, I represent The Neiman Marcus Group, - Ync., d/b /a Neiman
Marcus relative to the licensing of its four stores in the Chicagoland area At our meeting
yesterday, I advised you that Neiman Marcus is currently observing its 100'h to
business. To celebrate its centennial, Neiman Marcus is planning a series of events

fashion shows, truck shows, designer exhibits, professional women's
luncheons (focused on specific customer base.)
Estimated number of guests per event: 10 -100, by invitation only.
• Certain events to be held during store hours in various locations within the
store (i.e., usually held in roped-off, designer- specific and product-specific
areas, as depicted on the accompanying floor plan.)
• Food (hors d'oeuvres, and occasionally, sit down luncheons for small
groups) and alcohol (spirits, wine and beer) to be provided (no sale of
alcohol) by either licensed caterers or, if possible, through the store's
restaurant operation.
Again, when I receive the event summary from my client, I will provide you with
