AUTUMN FESTIVAL COMMITTEE OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK
BROOK APPROVED AS AMENDED ON FEBRUARY 23, 2006.
1. CALL TO ORDER
The Regular Meeting of the Autumn Festival Committee was called to order by Chairman
Linda Gonnella at 7:10 p.m. in the Oak Brook Bath & Tennis Administration, 700 Oak
Brook Road, Oak Brook, IL.
2. ROLL CALL
PRESENT: Chairman Linda Gonnella, Vice Chairman Nuha Dabbouseh and
Committee Members Joyce Antoniolli, Connie Craig and Nelly Naguib.
ABSENT: Karen Rooney.
IN ATTENDANCE: Nelson Patras, Interim Bath & Tennis Club Manager and Mary
Meranda, Secretary.
3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Rescheduled Meeting Minutes of October 18, 2005
Member Craig noted that Interim Bath & Tennis Club Manager Patras was in attendance
of the October 18, 2005 Committee meeting, therefore the minutes need to be amended
for this correction.
Motion by Vice Chairman Dabbouseh, seconded by Member Craig, to approve the
Rescheduled Meeting Minutes of October 18, 2005 Autumn Festival Committee as
amended. VOICE VOTE: Motion carried.
4. UNFINISHED BUSINESS
a. Discuss New Committee Members
Member Antoniolli indicated that new member Karen Rooney may have more parents
interested in participating in the 2006 Autumn Festival. This will be discussed again at
the next meeting when Member Rooney can attend. Chairman Gonnella mentioned the
possibility of partnering with the Oak Brook Civic Association. She will speak with their
President Gerald McInerney to determine if they are interested in sponsoring an event or
helping the day of the event. The Committee also discussed the feasibility of the Oak
Brook Women's Club sponsoring an event or assisting in the activities of the day.
Chairman Gonnella will follow up with this also.

4. b. Discuss New Activities
The Committee discussed the possibility of new activities for the 2006 Autumn Festival.
They included Frisbee dogs but it requires a large area for the dogs to run as explained by
Manager Patras. Chairman Gonnella named some activities from the Chicago RidgeFest
where she will contact their events coordinator for further details of the Magical Balloon
Dude Dale, Magic Matt's Family Fun Shows and Lester's Learn & Play.
Member Craig will contact the DuPage Children's Museum if there are any activities that
they could share the day of the Autumn Fest. Other activities discussed were the Fire
Department's participation, the trackless train, camel rides, petting zoo and Mr. D's
Magic Show. Mary Meranda will contact all of these vendors for further details of cost
and time of each event.
c. Discuss Methods of Improving Event
The Committee concurred that that R.C. Racing return again. Mary Meranda will follow -
up to determine what the cost would be without charging a $1.00 for each participant. The
hay'ride and moonwalk vendors will also be contacted by Mary Meranda for their fee and
time of their activity.
The Committee discussed expansion of food vendors. Vice Chairman Dabbouseh will
contact Panda Express, Member Naguib will contact a vendor she recommended that sells
cooked corn and also Lucca Pizza. Member Naguib will also contact the wine tasting
vendor that had previously participated in the Autumn Festival to ask him to return again
this year. , Mary Meranda will contact Scoops requesting what other menu items they
would be able to sell the day of the event besides ice cream. She will contact Caribou
Coffee requesting their selling of fresh coffee and Mr. Bill's for his funnel cakes and
lemonade.
The Committee discussed the costs of set up and eliminating Sports Core staff with the
hiring of Ray Rocke for two parking attendants. Mary Meranda will contact the company
for a cost estimate. The Committee agreed that two Sports Core life guards are necessary
for the boat activity and one staff member for the Moonwalk activity. A sign must be
printed for Asif Yusuf `s donation of pumpkins for the pumpkin decorating activity.
The Committee noted that the revenue from the parking fees collected and dessert sales
will be eliminated and sponsorship will be required for any activities instead. The cost of
the stage will also be eliminated as the Committee agreed that the Scottish dancers will be
replaced by a new activity.
d. Discuss Sponsorship of Autumn Festival
It was a consensus of the Committee that each member be responsible for a sponsor of

one of the activities Member Craig will contact Citibank for sponsorship Chairman
Gonnella will contact resident Elaine Zannis if she wishes to sponsor the Bus-0-Fun
activity this year She suggested that area developers be contacted for sponsorship of an
activity It was stated that developers contacted would have their project approved by the
Village Board and would not be going through the development process before the
Village so there isn't any conflict of interest Chairman Gonnella explained that the
Village has a new listing of 2,000 businesses -in Oak Brook She will speak with Village
Manager Boehm if part of this list could be used for requesting sponsorship of our
Autumn Festival
The Committee discussed incorporating all of the costs of the Autumn Festival and having
it included in the cost of each vendor's activity The Committee will refine the costs of
the Autumn Fest so that all of these costs are included in the activity expenditures.
Regarding the food vendors, Member Naguib stated she will contact the liquor vendor that
participated previously in Autumn Festival for the wine tasting activity Mary Meranda
will also contact previous Autumn Festival vendors whose activities included the trackless
train, petting zoo and camels
Member Antoniolli and Naguib discussed the possibility of the Varsity Butler School
Spirit Squad The Committee noted that most of the schools activities have dust begun in
the month of September and many of the area schools are not ready to perform in public

Motion by Vice Chairman Dabbouseh, seconded by Member Naguib, to adjourn the
meeting at 8 42 p m
