Medicare 101
Thursday, February 16 @ 7pm
David Wylly of the Medicare Solutions Network will present this educational
seminar to get you up to speed on what Medicare covers, what it doesn’t,
and your potential out-of-pocket exposure. He will discuss Supplements, Advantage Plans,
Part D Prescription Coverage and cost saving strategies for the years ahead.
Madam President
Saturday, February 18 @ 2 pm
Author William Hazelgrove will present his book, Madam President, a vivid,
engaging portrait of Edith Wilson. Wilson became the acting President after
her husband Woodrow’s stroke in 1919, months before women officially won
the right to vote. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
Henry Ford and His Model T
Saturday, February 25 @ 2 pm
Between 1908 and 1927, fifteen million “Tin Lizzies” flowed from the
Ford Motor Company factories changing the American landscape
forever. Artist/lecturer Jim Weren has produced a fascinating,
entertaining (and surprising) study, featuring American folk hero, Henry
Ford, and his ubiquitous “Model T.” Sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
Sunday Chess Club
January 15 - February 26 @ 2-4 pm
The Chess Club is open to players of ALL AGES who already have an understanding of the
game. Players are welcome to join to improve their game and play. Each week will feature
lessons, guided play, and a Swiss-style tournament. All equipment is provided.
Tom Mikolyzk, a USCF Certified Chess coach, local tournament director and a
retired teacher and administrator, will lead. He has taught chess since 1989 and
has directed clubs and teams at Avery Coonley and DaVinci Academy. Tom also
teaches privately, focusing on motivated younger players.

honor of Sue Madorin’s years of service to the Library.
The Oak Brook Women’s Club Book Discussion Group has donated Crime
and Punishment and Major Pettigrew’s Last Stand in memory of Betty
Rooney.

Registration and Internet Privileges Required
Tuesday, Feb. 21 @ 4 - 6 pm Computer Help
One-on-one 30 minute computer sessions are being offered to
answer basic computer-related questions, from searching the web
to downloading books. Registration is required.

After 23 years of dedicated service, the Library
wishes a fond farewell and happy retirement to
Sue Madorin.

Rumpelstiltskin
Saturday, February 18 @ 11 am
Rumpelstiltskin has always been a
beloved fairytale. Improv Playhouse is
excited to bring the story to life on stage!
A local carpenter lands his own daughter
in a lot of trouble, telling the king she can
spin straw into gold. Luckily there exists
an imp with a golden touch, but his work
doesn't come cheap. Kids and parents will
laugh aloud as our actors portray beloved characters from this
classic story. Registration is required. All Ages Welcome!

Teen Community Service Opportunities
Looking for volunteer hours for applications? Sign up to assist with
programs and take part in events.
Please provide 24 hours notice if you can no longer volunteer. Dress
appropriately to be able to bend and move. Call Youth Services for
registration and for questions about each program or event.

Thursdays, Feb. 2, 9 & 16 @ 10:30 am
Toddle on down to this fun and interactive story time that
includes marvelous books, flannel boards, music and a craft.
Children must be age 2 by January 1, 2017. Parents
accompany child in this program.
Storytime Art - Grades K-2
Tuesdays, Feb. 7 & 14 @ 4:30 pm
Are you nuts about books and crafts? Then join us for this
creative storytime. We will read a story and then do a craft
project inspired by the book.
Saturday Stars
Saturdays, February 4 & 11 @ 11 am
Families are welcome to this fun-filled storytime.
Stories and activities will be geared towards ages
2-6. Parents accompany children in this program.
Space is limited. Registration is required weekly.
Winter Reading Club
It’s not too late. We’re in the mood to Chill Out
and Read! The reading program runs through
March 4.
Teen Advisory Group (TAG)
Monday, February 13 @ 6 pm
TAG provides teens with the opportunity to have a voice in their
library. We will discuss and plan future programs and work on
ways to improve the library community. This leadership role also
counts towards community service hours. Grades 6 & up.

Submit a Book Review
As part of Winter Reading, submit a book review to be posted on our blog.
Whether it is for your favorite book, or one you read for school, submit a
short review of the book with the book title, author, and your name and we
will have it posted on our Youth Services blog. Each submission will count
as an entry into our Grand Prize Raffle for Winter Reading. Grades 6 & Up
