Shamrock Ragsters
Sunday, March 5 @ 2 pm
Come and hear the pub-shaking music of the Shamrock Ragsters!
Listen as they play the hits of Dixieland, Bluegrass, Irish, and Celtic
tunes with traditional folk instruments including banjo, fiddle, mandolin,
tin whistle, Irish flute, guitar, bass and trumpet. You don’t want to miss
this rip-roaring performance!

The Building of the St. Peter’s Basilicas
Sunday, March 19 @ 2 pm
St. Peter’s Basilica, located in Vatican City, was originally built in 322
AD over the remains of St Peter and replaced in the 16th century. Oak
Brook resident Dorothy Mikuska will take you on an historical journey
of the political and architectural feats leading to the construction of
these two basilicas. Whether you have walked the main aisle of St.
Peter’s many times, climbed the dome, toured the necropolis, or just have it on your bucket
list, you will find the story of the building of these two St. Peter’s Basilicas most compelling.

Swing into Spring as the jazz duo of vocalist Petra van Nuis and
guitarist Andy Brown return to the Oak Brook Public Library to delight
you with songs of rebirth, sunlight, birds and flowers!

Don’t miss the Friends’ Silent Auction,
which runs from March 12 until April
22 in the lobby. The auction has a
dozen selections that are sure to
pique your curiosity. One item up for
bidding is a small collection about the World’s
Columbian Exposition of 1893. Included are books,
pamphlets, and other ephemera from the fair itself. If
you are a history buff, this piece is for you.
Save the date: the Friends’ Used Book sale begins
April 20 and the Spring Evergreen Concert, featuring
the Shawn Maxwell Quartet, is on May 7.

Books & Bites Book Discussion

Ms. Bixby’s Last Day
We will meet once per month to discuss a good
book while discovering fun facts about it and the
author. Snacks will be provided!
See the Circulation Desk for a copy of the book a
few weeks before each session. Recommended
for grades 4 & up.
Exotic Wildlife Sanctuary
Saturday, March 11 @ 1 pm
Science comes “alive” with this interactive
exotic wildlife program which provides
unique encounters with animals from
around the world. Discussion will cover the important role these
animals play in the world, conservation and the importance of
preservation. Registration is required.

Teen Community Service Opportunities
Looking for volunteer hours for applications? Sign up to assist with
programs and take part in events.
Please provide 24 hours notice if you can no longer volunteer. Dress
appropriately to be able to bend and move. Call Youth Services for
registration and for questions about each program or event.

Registration is required for all storytimes

Toddle on down to this fun and interactive story time that
includes marvelous books, flannel boards, music and a craft.
Children must be age 2 by March 1, 2017. Parents
accompany child in this program.
Storytime Art - Grades K-2
Tuesdays, Mar. 7, 14 & 21 @ 4:30 pm
Are you nuts about books and crafts? Then join us for this
creative storytime. We will read a story and then do a craft
project inspired by the book.
Saturday Stars
Saturdays, March 4 & 18 @ 11 am
Families are welcome to this fun-filled storytime.
Stories and activities will be geared towards ages
2-6. Parents accompany children in this program.
Space is limited. Registration is required weekly.

TAG provides teens with the opportunity to have a voice in their
library. We will discuss and plan future programs and work on
