Dear Bath & Tennis Members' Committee:
Please be informed that I have personnally talked with Trustee Kerry
Krafthefer, Village Manager Stephen Berley and Sports Core Manager
Chuck McAdams regarding your letter dated July 5, 1991. Regarding the
alleged ordinance violations, we have the following comments. Section
(F)(1) "The pools may be utilized by family or individual season
members and their registered guests ". The ladies and gentlemen from
Quaker Oats were the registered guests of Mr. Matt Manely, a member of
the Bath & Tennis Club. Currently we operate the tennis courts with
several priority times for Men's, Women's and Junior Leagues, Tennis
Teams, Individual member groups such as the Sunday morning Men's group
and Member Guest groups such as Matt Manely's. Fees were paid for Mr.
Manely's guests per our requirements. The priority rule was enacted
some time ago when certain Committee Members were dominating the
courts. The Village Staff will review this priority ordinance and make
a recommendation to the Village Board for possible ordinance changes
next season. With respect to grounds rental before Memorial Day and
after Labor Day, the staff has never exercised its authority to
completely rent out the pool or the tennis courts with the exception of
Butler Ditch Day. The staff will look into possible modifications for
this ordinance since there is obviously two conflicting sections of our
ordinances and it would not be good judgement to rent out all of the
tennis courts on the Sunday before Memorial Day or the Sunday after
Labor Day.
All membership fees and membership classifications are indeed approved
at the Village Board level. The Staff has not recommended to the Board
any new classifications with respect to Polo. The staff was simply
looking into the possibilities of a new category.
In an effort to give the Bath & Tennis Members more food alternatives
on Saturday afternoons for lunch other than the Barbecue Hut, staff is
serving food on the east patio with a limited menu. The east patio was
pre -sold to some of the banquets before the staff made a decision to
serve lunches on the east patio. Many wedding receptions are booked
one year in advance. All banquets are now informed that member
activity and food service will take place on the east patio. We are
sorry for any inconvenience and this change should resolve the problem.
•
Staff is unaware of any problem with Oak Brook organizations as we have
several organizations which currently use the Bath & Tennis Club such
as the Oak Brook Womens Republican Club, Oak Brook Womens Club, Butler
School, Oak Brook Civic Association, Oak Brook Chapter of A.A.U.W.,
Library Association, O.B.A.C.I., Fullersburg Woods Association.
The Village Board, Staff and I will continue to work with you and the
citizens to improve our Sports Core.
Thank you for writing.
Sincerely,
Karen Bushy
