BARTON 40 D r$TifGE FARM OAK BROOK, ILL- L-901S 60521 September 3. 1975 President and Board of Trustees Village of Oak Brook 1200 Oak Brook Road Oak Brook, Illinois 60521 Re: Fullersburg Area Water Main l rovements Gentlemen: Because of conflicting meetings, I shall not be able to attend the meeting of the Commijttge of the c_le of the Board to be held on September 8. I t e as occasion, to express my views as a resident property owner in the Fullersburg area. As you know, Connie and I own 2-1/4 acres in Bre`ikenridge Farm. All properties in Breakenridge Farm and adjacent to it are served by their own wells and septic systems. I am not aware of any pressing need for municipal water service in our area of Fullersburg. Moreover, I suspect that the cost of extending water mains and laterals into our area would be prohibitive, particularly in view of the large amount of land that is not presently developed. I question whether the quality of Village water is better than the quality of water presently being ptunped from existing local wells. In summary, Connie and I are generally opposed to the extension of water mains and the assessment, one way or the other, of a portion of tae cost of such extension. In our area, sewage disposa'L is a much more pressing problem. Our property has been annexed into the Hinsdale Sanitary District, but we are not yet served. Other nearby properties are not within the district. Because of the marginal permeability of the soil in our area, I believe that most residents have septic field problems although perhaps not all of them admit the fact. Connie and I would urge the Village'to use its good offices to persuade the Hinsdale Sanitary District to extend sewerage into the area. eespeatFu1.l submitted, i I t R I i
