Boards & Commissions Supporting Documents - 09/14/2010 - Board of Trustees (4)ITEM 10.6. AGENDA ITEM Regular Board of Trustees Meeting of September 14, 2010 SUBJECT: Village of Oak Brook — Directional Signage ;;7 FROM: Robert L. Kallien, Jr., AICP, Community Development Director BUDGET SOURCE/BUDGET IMPACT: N/A RECOMMENDED MOTION: I move to concur with the recommendation from Staff to permit the placement of one directional sign per existing curb cut on properties located on the south -side of 22 ad Street, between Route 83 and Butterfield Road to assist motorists in entering and exiting during the duration of the 22nd Street widening project. All signs must be removed within 15 days of project completion. At the present time, 22nd Street is being widened by the State of Illinois between Route 83 and Butterfield Road. Construction is expected to be completed in late 2011. As part of this construction process, temporary lanes are being constructed, temporary signals are being installed, and existing access and median cuts are being changed or removed all together. As a result, motorists who are attempting to locate an Oak Brook business along this stretch of roadway may have difficulty finding the correct access location. Accordingly, Staff is recommending that the Village Board approve a temporary directional signage program which would allow any property owner, between Route 83 and Butterfield Road to place one (1) temporary sign on their property per existing curb cut to assist shoppers, tenants and visitors in locating their place of business during the 22nd Street widening project. It is proposed that the temporary directional signs have a maximum height of twelve (12) feet, be no larger than 24 square feet per sign face, be located no closer than five (5) feet from the property line and require a permit from the Department of Community Development. Staff is proposing there be no charge for these permits. Recommendation Concur with the Staff recommendation to permit temporary directional signs between Route 83 and Butterfield Road during the 22nd Street widening project. AM Page 1.
