HomeMy WebLinkAboutVolume 32 - 2016Sweet lovers love the Spring! We have a special
program of songs to celebrate Spring (and love!)
planned for Sunday, May 1, at 3:00 p.m. in the
Friends Meeting Room at the Library. Our Spring
Evergreen Concert will feature singers from
Bella Voce, one of Chicago’s premier professional
chamber choirs. The performers for this concert
include Kaitlin Foley, soprano; Kirsten Hedegaard,
soprano; Orna Arania, alto; Matthew Dean,
tenor; and Eric Miranda, bass. The program will
include pieces by a variety of composers, including
Thomas Morley, Orlando Gibbons, Irving Berlin,
and George Gershwin.
Founded in 1982 as His Majestie’s Clerkes and
renamed in 2001 to reflect the expanded repertory
the ensemble embraced under longtime artistic
director Anne Heider, Bella Voce performs classic
a cappella repertoire, early music of the Americas,
and contemporary music from all over the world.
Andrew Lewis has been the artistic director for the
past 11 seasons.
Bella Voce is an ensemble in residence at the
University of Illinois at Chicago. They have
performed live on WFMT and have also released
several CDs. For more information about
Bella Voce, and to listen to tracks from their
recent recordings, please visit their website,
www.bellavoce.org.
The Concert is free to the public, and no
reservations are required. Following the
performance, one lucky attendee will receive a
free CD, and refreshments will be served for all
to enjoy. For more information, please call the
Library at 630-368-7702.

It’s time to show your support for our
Library by joining the Friends of the Oak
Brook Public Library for the 2016-2017
membership year (June 1 – May 31).

We’d like to extend our best wishes to three
departing Friends Directors. Kathleen
Carson served on the Board for one year; her
responsibilities included hospitality for the

seven years, most notably as Treasurer and
then President. Longtime Library supporter
Anne Vekich served early in the formation
of the Friends organization and then for the
last 14 years, most recently working on silent
auction and membership activities. Donations
of materials for the Library collections will be
made in their honor. We are grateful for their
service to the Friends Board.
A warm welcome goes out to three new
Friends Directors. Kay Antonio will be
working on the silent auctions and Used Book
Sale, Frank Serafino will be working on the
Used Book Sale and publicity, and Tom Doyle,
who has served previously as President, will
be our new Treasurer. If you are interested
in serving on the Board, please contact
