Chicago Turns 180: From Frontier Outpost to World-Class City

The year 2017 is Chicago’s 180th birthday as a city. Notable in all those
years is how many times Chicago has had to literally take 180-degree
turns and change its direction. Dave Clark takes us on a tour of the many
changes the city has gone through and the challenges that it faces now
and in the future

Then, the audience can request songs they would like her to sing.
The show is all about you and what you would like to hear. Join us

Gear up for Reading by Design
Stop in at the Library to pick up your summer reading log, plus a small prize just for
participating! The program is open to participants 14 and older. Read or listen to five
books from OBPL’s collection before August 5 and get entered in the grand prize
drawing sponsored by the Friends of the Oak Brook Library.
The Library will close at 1 pm on Monday, July 3. Enjoy the Taste
of Oak Brook. The Library will reopen on Wednesday, July 5.

Books & Bites Book Discussion

book while discovering fun facts about it and the

Monday Evening Chess Club
July 5*, 10, 17, 24 and 31 @ 6:30-8 pm
This club is open to players grades K-12 who already
have an understanding of the game. It is a club, not a
team, so players are welcome to join us to improve their
game and play. Registration required. *Wednesday evening-
change due to early closing on July 3 for holiday.
R.E.A.D. to a Cat
Thursday, July 27 @ 7 pm
The Hinsdale Humane Society’s READ program bring us
teams of trained owners and their Delta-registered
cats to work with children to improve reading skills.
This is an opportunity for children to
practice their reading skills with the
best, nonjudgmental listener of all.

True Balance Karate Class

June Storytimes
Registration is required for all storytimes
Toddling 2s & 3s
Thursdays, July 6 & 13 @ 10:30 am
This is a perfect program to introduce little ones to the library.
We’ll enjoy some good books, sing songs, dance,
do fingerplays and more! We’ll also make crafts
which are related to the theme of the day. A
parent or caregiver must stay with children during
the program.
Grades K-2 Storytime/Art

Join us for some summertime stories that will awaken our
creative juices. Because Miss Brigitte believes that good books
inspire us, a story-inspired art project will follow. Please dress
