ABOUT THE MEDIUM SERIES
Piano-Four Hands is unique,as it is the only
form of chamber music that requires two
performers to share the same instrument.
Music for the Piano-Four Hands has attracted ' ELIZABETH COCHRANE
the attention of many of the great composers
since the late 18th century.Composers from I 1 MIRIAM GERBER
Mozart to Stravinsky have contributed to the
repertoire.
MUSIC FOR PIANO FOUR HANDS
40/
In some ways, the medium is technically more
difficult than solo piano. The tolerances are
extremely close,with one performer often
releasing a key a fraction of a second before it
is played by the other performer.Of necessity,
the intertwining hands must be carefully
choreographed to achieve the musical effects
intended by the composer.

and most intimate of his works for this medium. He later
transcribed these waltzes for solo piano.
