RECOMMENDED MOTION: Motion to approve passage of ORDINANCE 2017-BD-
OBHCVC-G-1113 An Ordinance Amending Sections 2-5-2A of the Village Code of the Village
Oak Brook Relating to the Hotel, Convention and Visitors Committee.
Background/History: Currently, the Oak Brook Hotel, Convention and Visitors Committee is
made up of 10 members with terms that expire every February 28d. The committee consists of 6
persons who operate or manage a hotel or motel within the Village of Oak Brook, 1
representative of Oakbrook Center, 1 representative of the Chamber of Commerce and 2
residents-at-large.
This proposal increases the number of appointed positions to eleven, increasing the number of
Hotel General Managers by one.
With the opening of the Hyatt House Hotel the new General Manager will need to be appointed.
Recommendation: Motion to approve Ordinance G-1113 relating to the Hotel, Convention and
Visitors Committee.

ORDINANCE 2017-BD-OBHCVC-G-1113
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 2-5-2A OF THE VILLAGE CODE OF THE
VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK RELATING TO THE HOTEL, CONVENTION AND VISITORS COMMITTEE
WHEREAS, On September 25, 1990, the Village Board passed Ordinance G-452, creating a
Hotel, Convention and Visitors Committee ("Committee's, which ordinance has been codified as Title 2,
Chapter 5, entitled "Hotel, Convention and Visitors Committee," of the "Village Code of the Village of Oak
Brook, Illinois," as amended ("Village Code"); and
WHEREAS, the Village Board has determined that it is in the best interests of the Village and its
residents to amend Section 2-5-2A of the Village Code to increase the number of members that may
serve on the Committee;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF
THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, DU PAGE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS as follows:
Section 1: Recitals. The foregoing recitals are hereby incorporated into, and made a part of, this
Ordinance as the findings of the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Oak Brook.
Section 2: Amendment to Section 2-5-2A. Subsection A, entitled "Appointments" of Section 2,
entitled "Membership; Appointments," of Chapter 5, entitled "Hotel, Convention and Visitors Committee,"
of Title 2, entitled "Boards and Commissions," of the Village Code shall be amended further, and shall
read as follows:
"2-5-2: MEMBERSHIP; APPOINTMENTS:
A. Appointment: The Village President shall appoint a-911 persons to serve as members
of the Committee, subject to the advice and consent of the Board of Trustees. The
Committee shall consist of s+x seven persons who operate or manage a hotel or motel
within the corporate limits of the Village, one representative of Oakbrook Center, two
residents-at-large of the Village, and the Director of the Greater Oak Brook Chamber of
Commerce."
Section 3: Severability. If any provision of this Ordinance or part thereof is held invalid by a
court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions of this Ordinance shall remain in full force and
effect, and shall be interpreted, applied, and enforced so as to achieve, as near as may be, the purpose
and intent of this Ordinance to the greatest extent permitted by applicable law.
Section 4: Effective Date. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its
passage, approval, and publication in the manner provided by law.
