Paint & Take: Wildflower Garden - Saturday, June 11 @ 2 pm
Terri Murphy, a children’s book illustrator, will help you create a burst of blooms by
focusing on how brush-strokes are laid. This fun step-by-step process will show how
to paint stems, leaves and a wild variety of flowers. All materials provided.

Wellness Hearing Day - Monday, June 13 @ 1 pm
Brought to you by the Hearing Health Center of Chicago, this presentation will include a brief
case history of current hearing issues or difficulties caused by noise exposure, unsteadiness
or recent falls, etc. The hearing screening will include an otoscopic exam, frequency testing
and any recommendations for further hearing examination.
Illinois State Poetry Society: Poetry Readings
Saturday, June 18 @ 1 pm
Enjoy some poetry with the local Illinois State Poetry Society’s authors. Feel
free to bring your own poetry to read!
Life Line Screening - Thursday, June 23 @ 9:30 am - 5 pm
Representatives from Life Line Community Healthcare will be here for Annual Wellness Visits
for a $149 fee. To schedule a screening, please call 888-653-6450. The health screenings go
beyond regular checkups to provide you and your doctor with valuable information about your
health.
Tips for the Lazy Gardener - Saturday, June 25 @ 2 pm
Cindy Tyley, owner of “Carriage House Garden Design”, will address how to
be the best lazy gardener. She has a certificate in Landscape Design and is
a member of the Western Springs Garden Club. Sponsored by the Friends of

This class will introduce the Excel spreadsheet. Areas covered will
be the everyday commands found on the Ribbon; create a new
workbook, save workbooks, insert and delete column and rows and
enter text and numbers.
Monday, June 6 @ 11 am - 2 pm - Computer Help
A one-on-one, 30 minute computer session, is being offered to
patrons for answering basic computer-related questions from
searching the Web to downloading books. Registration is required.
Thursday, June 16 @ 2 pm - Database Searching
Looking for a phone number and/or address? Need computer help?
This class gives you an overview of the variety of databases the
library offers to assist you with your finances, your purchases, book
selections and much, much more.

Do you enjoy discussing a good book with
friends while indulging in a tasty snack? We
will meet once per month to discuss a good
book while discovering fun facts about
it as well as the author. Snacks will be

Life Size Candyland

We are creating our own life size game
of Candyland! The players themselves will be the ones
moving throughout the game board, hopping to King Candy
first! But don’t be fooled, those who get stuck throughout

The Summer Reading Club
Summer reading begins on June 1 and runs
through August 5. In anticipation for the
approaching 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio, we
are focusing on games of all sorts, all summer
long. Children ages three and up who participate
in Summer Reading will earn prizes along the way
for their time reading and take part in building our
own Olympic Rings in the Youth Services Area. We hope to
have all of Oak Brook’s children “reading for the win” this sum-
mer!
