Life in a Japanese American Internment Camp
Saturday, August 20 @ 2 pm
After the bombing of Pearl Harbor, Japanese Americans living on the West
Coast were forced from their homes and into relocation camps in remote areas
of the country. Historian and librarian Sarah Okner, a descendant of internees,
shares photos and details of daily life in an internment camp, and the profound
effects it had on those living there. Sponsored by the Friends of OBPL.
Ragtime: The American Music of the Early 20th Century
Saturday, August 27 @ 2 pm
Young pianist Daniel Souvigny enjoys sharing his ragtime passion and brings
plenty of energy and pizazz to his performances. Hear him play old-time piano
from the ragtime era (1890-1929) and talk about the history of this early Ameri-

good book while discovering fun facts
about it as well as the author. Snacks will

Looking for something to do? Join us for after-

Toddle on down to this fun and interactive
storytime that includes marvelous books,
flannel boards, music, and a simple craft! A
great way to introduce your little one to the
Library! Children must be 2 years old. Parents

Preschoolers will wiggle and giggle while they
interact with books, activities, games, music,
and crafts. Children must be 4 years old. Space

Storytime Art - Grades K-2

Are you nuts about books and art? Then join us for this
creative story time. We will read a story and then do an art
project inspired by the book. Space is limited.

1000 Books Before Kindergarten
Sign up your newborn, infant, or toddler for our 1000
Books Before Kindergarten program. This ongoing
program will help build your child’s vocabulary, print
awareness, early literacy skills
and more as you read 1000 books
before they start their first day of
