MINUTES from the meeting of October 22: It was noted that Sherri Mazda had been noted as present, but had not been at that meeting. 4. REVENUE SHEETS from Ethnic Fest, 1998 were distributed. Bonnie noted that the revenues had been reviewed by the Finance Department. The Village contribution will be $20,000. The Ethnic Fest came in under budget by a few hundred dollars. 5. APPOINTMENTS: Bonnie confirmed with those present that they would like to remain on the committee. Reappointments will be made at the next Village Board meeting. is6. DISCUSSION: A lengthy discussion ensued about the name of the event. Several members expressed concern that "Ethnic" was limiting and everyone agreed they still wanted to acknowledge the diversity but not to emphasize ethnicity. Someone will contact the Health Department for regulations about having residents bring desserts that could be sampled to continue the multi - cultural scope of the day. Several names were suggested for this year's event (O.B. Fall Fest, O.B. September Fest and O. B. Autumn Fest). A vote was not taken and the committee left it open for more suggestions, but those attending felt Autumn Fest was the most representative of what they perceived this year's event to be. Al Savino expressed concern about the costs and results of the event itself. Bonnie explained that at the previous meeting the committee expressed a desire to do this one more year with a more concentrated effort at attracting families. Several ideas were suggested such as an Arts and Crafts Show and/or an exhibit of art from the local school children and resident artists. Nelly noted that often children other than those in Districts 53 or 86 are not included, and Nuha suggested that Nelly serve as the liaison to the other districts. In order to get the younger children and families, it was suggested that the committee contact the P.T.A. and possibly have one of their representatives at the next committee meeting to offer some suggestions of activities as well as volunteers that would get involved. We will continue to have the petting zoo and investigate the possibility of a horse show put on by the Lippizans or Culver Military Black Horse Troop. This would be on Field 2. For the young adults (20 ish) the possibility of having a DJ in the Clubhouse will be explored. • 7. ADJOURNMENT: Meeting was adjourned at 8:40 p.m.
