The meeting was called to order at 7:15pm.
A discussion regarding the advertising for the 1998 event took place.
Much debate took place as to the scope of advertising and its effect on the event and the
vendors for the event. After a lengthy conversation the consensus was that advertising
would be limited to articles written for the local paper and the newsletters sent to the
various school districts that serve Oak Brook. Additionally we would utilize the Civic
Association Newsletter and the Village Newsletter as much as possible.
It was further agreed that the colors and logo for the posters and stationary would
remain the same and the production of same would begin soon.
Bonnie brought forward the news that Susan Santefort would be serving only in an
advisory capacity for the entertainment as she is currently moving to a new home and
the Ethnic Fest for 1998 takes place on a weekend in September when she will be
attending a family wedding in California. She has graciously offered to converse,
advise and council at any time and has turned over the entertainment file in excellent
order for us to pick up where she left off. The committee will search for an emcee and
Marcy Hanzhk will ably be able to coordinate particularly the youth entertainment.
Ralph Maxson of course will continue to advise/ coordinate with the adult
entertainment. It was agreed that we would continue the same entertainment format
and use the same vendors so as to ease the transition.
A discussion regarding the need to get our teenagers interested in the event took place.
It was agreed that members of the committee would reach out to the high schools in the
hopes of getting perhaps the athletic squads and high school bands involved so that if
they come their friends will follow behind. Further conversation and volunteers will be
needed to see this effort to fruition.
The next meeting will be devoted entirely to the planning and logistics for the Preview
Party.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:45 PM.
