Ethnic Fest Meeting Minutes
March 121h,1998
The meeting was called to order at 7:15 PM.
The minutes were approved from the February 12ffi meeting.

A discussion took place, which included the Bath and Tennis operational staff of
Bryan Shanahan, Executive Chef, and Pam Pawlowski, Catering Coordinator,
who shared their views on the format of last years Preview Party.
The Committee was very pleased with last years event despite the service
problems which occurred, and felt that even with the difficulties in
accommodating such a large group at the last minute that the quality of the
entertainment, the food and the ambiance with fellow residents far surpassed
their expectations, particularly at $10.00 per person.
It was unanimously agreed that a similar menu would be prepared but that the
price per person would be $15.00 and that service staff would serve portions on
the buffet lines so that individuals would not be able to pile such an enormous
amount of food on their plates. (This situation was observed and shared by
several Committee members.)
The next part of the discussion revolved around the suggestion by President
Bushy, that the Committee consider moving the entertainment tent somewhere
in the parking lots closer to the food and vendor tents. This suggestion was
enthusiastically supported as a possibility by the Committee. It was agreed that
. between now and the next meeting Bonnie Sartore would meet with the tent and
sound system people and find out the scope of the problems if any of this type of
• move and what the cost considerations would be.
A discussion about the importance of including more teenage attractions and
activities took place and Doreen Barrett, our representative from Saddlebrook,
offered to pursue several ideas with high school staff and athletic squads at
Downers Grove North High School, where she and her family are very involved.
Doreen also shared some interesting conversation from her Saddlebrook
neighbors who had indicated that they did not interpret the Ethnic Fest to be an
inclusive activity for all residents and that as ambassadors of the event we need
to make clear through our publicity and personal net - working that this indeed is
a Village -wide inclusive event.
Bonnie Sartore updated the Committee with the names of participants in
entertainment who have indicated a willingness to come back and be part of the
this years event as well as a couple of new vendors who have indicated an
interest. The names were given to the respective Committee members for
follow -up.
Denise Tennison has volunteered to assist the Sports Core staff in creating a
• permanent data base of advertisers both repeat and new for future reference.
Meeting was adjourned at 9:15 PM.
