Minutes of the April 11 meeting were approved with the following correction: Joan
Philip said Nancy Madda may want to contact other entertainers, not that she would
contact homeowners groups.
Joan Philip passed around the poster design, which will be laminated with grommit
holes in the top for hanging.
The Publicity Committee report was given by Bonnie Sartore for Marge Tresley.
Marge has organized photo sessions with all the local papers and will do a second
round of photos outside with children involved. Press materials are available for
newsletters or groups, with history, background, etc., of the Ethnic rest.
Susan Santefort has accepted Slot 1 on the official committee and will be
inducted at the village board meeting on Tuesday, April 23. She will co -chair the
Entertainment Committee with Ralph Maxson.
Bonnie also gave the Entertainment Committee report. Ralph noted that if vendors
are spread out, we should have strolling musicians to draw attention to them. Susan
and Darrell (from brook Forest School) are going to draft a letter asking radio, TV,,
etc. personalities to lvi(_, the event. DD arreii is going to write the consulates tor their

Entertainment Committee will be at 9 a.m. May zs.
I o promote the event, John Lindquist suggested sending a truck with school
children and a billboard through the neighborhoods that morning. Bonnie said there
is discussion of a parade. Bonnie has met with the fireworks people and there is a
possibility of a low -level fireworks display on the opposite side of the lake from the
clubhouse. A display such as this is not nearly as costly and has become popular
with smaller audiences.
Joan Philip reported on the Cookbook Committee. She recently met with Denise
Tennison,, Pat Chun and Al Savino, and they are considering selling a box and a
packet of recipes separately, since we still have sewer than 1 UU recipes and people
may not be willing to pay $20 for this. Al is still looking for 'less expensive boxes.
The original boxes were $ 16417, including the logo. A decision will be made by
the .tune meeting.
A program book will be created with ads, and Bonnie said we will put together a
contract with ad prices before the June meeting. Joan suggested getting letters of
history of Oak Brook (ask Michael Butler to put something together), and to get
letters from the various dignitaries of Oak Brook (village, park district, school
district).
The Lions Club representatives offered their help, and said they have flags of all the
144 countries the Lions Club serves.
Bonnie suggested the rood Committee develop a system on selecting vendors so we
don't have too much duplication. Merchandise vendors wont be nearly the issue
that food vendors will.
Bonnie reported the Finance Committee is going to draft a budget to present to the
entire committee, so everyone is aware of what is going on. we're getting to the
point where we can zero in on our costs. Joan showed a sample of the stationery
we're ordering; Karen Martino got prices for printing from Minuteman Press of
Naperville. it was agreed to go ahead and order it.
