3. MINUTES from the meeting of March 9 were approved as written.
4. ANNOUNCEMENT/ENTERTAINMENT: Bonnie noted that Susan Santefort would not be
coordinating the entertainment on the stage this year. Committee members suggested that Bonnie
contact Ron Lemm and/or the music teacher at Brook Forest to see if either of them would be willing to
assume the task of coordinating the groups. Bonnie noted that the Hinsdale Choral Department and the
Eisenhower Jr. High have already expressed a desire to return for this year's event. Letters will be sent
to others who appeared previously to see if they are interested in returning. The Scottish Highland
Games Group will provide a bagpiper.
5. PREVIEW PARTY: The cost of the Preview Party will be $20.00 per person this year. The menu
will be very similar to the previous year's — the menu will be reviewed during the June meeting.
Discussion ensued regarding the seating of guests at the Preview Party and it was decided that this year
we will reserve tables for 8, 10, or 12 people. Smaller groups will be given an open seating area.
6. RAFFLE GIFTS: To date we have received raffle gifts from the Marriott, the Hyatt, and the
Wyndham Drake as a result of Adam's efforts at the Hotel, Convention and Visitors Committee
meeting. Bonnie will attempt to get a list of liquor license holders in Oak Brook so that letters of
solicitation can be sent to them as well. The Hinsdale Hurricanes have again committed to a Gift
Certificate. The committee felt the Lettuce Entertainment Certificate last year was a good choice.
7. CIVIC ASSOCIATION FEES: Joan will approach the Civic Association about the waiving of fees
for a Village wide mailing seeking donations for the raffle. An early mailing will go out in June
reminding residents to save the date for the Autumn Fest and asking for donations. A mid- August
mailing will include the menu andparty invitation.
8. VENDORS & CRAFTERS: Jan offered to contact the Hinsdale Community Center and a couple of
other event chairmen to get a list of their crafters so that we can send some letters and applications to
them. The application we used last year was reviewed and a couple of suggestions were made so that
the vendors would be better able to define their needs such as signage and electrical needs. It was
agreed that inexpensive table skirting should be purchased rather than renting the linens. It was also
suggested that the craft tent be fitted with window sides.
9. CIVIC GROUPS: will not be invited to put up displays in the Clubhouse. The Fire Department and
Police Departments will be invited to participate. The Clubhouse will be used for the Cookie Walk and
Karaoke. Connie suggested we offer an incentive, such a one free ticket to the Cookie Walk, to anyone
who provides a cake, plate of cookies, etc. for the Cookie /Cake walk. The committee will also solicit
bakery items from some of the bakery owners who are also residents.
10. APPROVAL: was given to secure contracts for a train, the organ grinder and games organizer.
11. NEXT MEETING: June 8, 2000.
12. ADJOURNMENT: 8:00 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Linda Lojewski
