FESTIVAL COMMITTEE OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK

1. CALL TO ORDER
The Regular Meeting of the Autumn Festival Committee was called to order by Co-
Chairman Deborah Effrein at 7:11 p.m. in the Oak Brook Sports Core Administration
Building, 700 Oak Brook Road, Oak Brook, IL.
2. ROLL CALL
PRESENT: Co- Chairman Deborah Effrein, Committee Members Nelly Naguib, Anthony
Chiarito and Iolanda Castellan.
ABSENT: Co- Chairman Linda Gonnella, Committee Members Joyce Antoniolli and
Vieva Villegas.
IN ATTENDANCE: Mary Meranda, Sports Core Secretary.
3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
a. Minutes of the Regular Meeting of April 10, 2008
Motion by Member Castellan, seconded by Member Chiarito, to approve the minutes of
the April 10, 2008 Autumn Festival Committee meeting as written. VOICE VOTE:
Motion carried.
4. UNFINISHED BUSINESS
a. Discussion of 2008 Autumn Festival Activities
Co- Chairman Effrein notified the members of the $1,000 donation from Evergreen Private
Bank. She also indicated that the Golf Club Manager, Trey Van Dyke, is willing to host a
golf activity for children 8 -12 years of 'age on the driving range. The Committee had
questions regarding transportation to and from the activity and any supervision provided.
She further explained that she had spoken with the Butterfly Garden owners and was
waiting for a fax of their firm costs for the day.
Member Castellan reported that the cost for the sand art activity would be $5 per sand
bottle, however, the Committee felt that they needed a firm price to consider. She also
indicated that 200 fish would cost $50 from Scott's Pet Shop. Member Naguib said that
she had previously done this activity and it was challenge getting the fish into the plastic
bags to give away. The Committee, recommended that two full time B & T staff members
should be allotted to this activity for the day if it is approved.

Member Naguib brought information regarding "The Little People" entertainers. The cost
for their presentation during two hours at the Winter Carnival was $350.00. The
Committee will consider this program further. She also discussed having a hay wagon
ride similar to the Winter Carnival's event. She will verify the cost of this activity to the
Committee. Lastly, she discussed the idea of asking children to dress in Halloween
costumes and offer a Halloween costume contest.
Mary Meranda reported that the Oak Brook Police Department will be participating in the
event with a DARE Officer and the K -9 Officer. Co- Chairman Gonnella is waiting to
hear if the Fire Department will be present. Mary Meranda will verify prices for Rudy
Kazoodi and Pockets the clown and will also contact an additional female balloon artist.
The Committee recommended considering the following activities based on budget and
expected costs: Butterfly Garden, Rudy Kazoodi and Pockets, Pony rides, hayride,
goldfish activity, Moon Jump, Bob James Magic and cupcake decorating. Other activities
include sand art and Little People.
5. NEW BUSINESS:
The Committee discussed their next meeting date for Wednesday, June 25th at 7:00 p.m.
6. ADJOURNMENT:
Motion by Chiarito, seconded by Member Naguib, to adjourn the meeting at 8:50 p.m.
