Minutes were approved from the June 12 meeting. Bonnie gave an update on the
entertainment committee: Jimmy's Bavarians will play both days, but the West Suburban
Concert Band and the Elmhurst College Jazz Band will play Saturday evening only.
Bonnie has talked with Susan Santefort, who said that many residents would like their
children to perform (long performances), and there may be a "local talent" corner of the
is tent.
Bonnie reported that she got several vendors from visiting Elm Fest, including Chase's
Root Beer. Other vendors include Cuervo Tequila, Frannie's Fryers (Bloomin' Onions and
Funnel Cakes), Oberweis Dairy, Messina's, Papagus, Korean Garden, Home Run Inn,
Irish Treasure Trove, Graue Mill, the DuPage County Retired Marine Corps (corn), Lucia
Sutton (Guatemalan items), etc. Adam said that Met Life would take two pages and a
tent, and Friends of Conservation would buy an ad and a tent. Shere said a lace -maker will
come in costume.
Bonnie said the parking service suggested we have a designated drop -off point for
handicapped people and performers, and that everyone else park in a parking area. The
Highland Games got a shuttle bus from the Drake Oak Brook to transport people back
and forth.
Also, the Village will sponsor a costume contest on Sunday for people to dress in their
native costumes. Adam said he would ask Tiffany & Co. to donate prizes that that contest
and other things.
Joan passed around two flyers and suggested we do a separate mailing from the Civic
Association, in Ethnic Fest envelopes in mid - August. We can mention in the August
newsletter that the invitations are forthcoming, one for Saturday night and one for Sunday
. Reservation deadline will be September 15.
Bonnie will be in her office from 4 to 8 p.m. July 17 for people to pick up information.
She asked all committee members to stop in the office that week to look at logo items so
she can finalize the budget and purchases. A separate budget will be done for day and
evening events. She has already received generous donations of food to be served,
including Vlaseks (brats) and Gonnella (buns).
The meeting was adjourned at 8 p.m. The next meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday,
August 14, at the Oak Brook Bath & Tennis Club.
