Minutes of the June 13 meeting were approved with the following correction by
Ralph Maxson: The Christ Church Brass will perform at 1 and 2 p.m.; the West
Suburban Community Band will perform at 4 p.m.
Bonnie reported that many interested people are still calling. She has the program
from Downers Grove Heritage Fest with vendors, who have been screened, listed.
She said she can get additional information from the people who run Heritage Fest.
She received'an application from an American woman who makes dolls from
around the world, which could be a worthwhile addition.
Joan gave the Cookbook Committee report. Her sister -in -law found a new box @
$14.90 made in the USA, including the laser cut on top. There would be a one -time
$95 charge for the dye. Bonnie is going to ask the swim team mothers to submit
recipes. Bonnie received an order from Lexi Payovich for 40 recipe boxes to give as
Christmas gifts.
Bonnie gave the Finance Committee report: We received budget approval from the
school and park boards; an official letter will be sent to the village from the boards.

village board for approval. A few more checks have come in, one from Coldwell
Banker to sponsor the hospitality tent. It won't have their logo on it; they've agreed
to sponsor the tent as the only real estate office located in Oak Brook. The Library
Association has offered a shopping bag with their logo to promote library services;
they will pass it out at the entrance to the clubhouse.
Publicity: Bonnie said to refer press inquiries to her or Karen Martino.
Ralph Maxson gave the Entertainment Committee report: He said new contacts are
being made, and they are waiting for commitments. The West Suburban
Community Band and the Christ Church Brass are willing to play. There also will
be Irish and Greek dancers and bagpipers. Ralph suggested a world theme as the
background for the performance stage and questioned if the set design would have
to come out of the entertainment budget. Bonnie suggested asking high school and
college art departments to come up with something.
Shere Mazda said the food committee sent invitations to 70 restaurants and are
making follow -up calls. Bonnie said they would get a good response from
restaurants in Oakbrook Center. Shere said it is easy to get the restaurants to donate,
but more difficult to get them to come out and set up a tent. Bonnie suggested
setting a dessert and coffee tent which several vendors could share. A couple of
g p p
each nationality will be pinpointed.
Adam Butler asked if Met Life could sponsor something, and Bonnie said it would
have to be something we need. The committee agreed there would be no problem to
have a commercial sponsor for a tent. Adam said he works with Indian people, who
could get us in touch with Indian restaurants and merchants. Bonnie suggested we
write a letter offering sponsorship opportunities to businesses.
It was agreed that a history of each subdivision would be included in the program.
We will put together a letter asking for history and an ad from each homeowners'
association.
For the next meeting, Bonnie will have a drawing from Ray Rocky showing where
everything will be located. Ray may be the person who puts up the flag poles.
The meeting adjourned at 8:15 p.m. The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. Thursday,
August 8, at the Sports Core Administration Building.
