AUTUMN FESTIVAL COMMITTEE OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK

1. CALL TO ORDER
The Regular Meeting of the Autumn Festival Committee was called to order by Co-
Chairman Deborah Effrein at 7:07 p.m. in the Oak Brook Sports Core Administration
Building, 700 Oak Brook Road, Oak Brook, IL.
2. ROLL CALL
PRESENT: Co- Chairmen Deborah Effrein and Linda Gonnella, Committee Members
Joyce Antoniolli, Nelly Naguib and Iolanda Castellan.
ABSENT: Anthony Chiarito.
IN ATTENDANCE: Nelson Patras, Operations Manager, Bath & Tennis Club and Mary
Meranda, Sports Core Secretary.
3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
a. Minutes of the Regular Meeting of June 25, 2008
Motion by Member Naguib, seconded by Member Antoniolli, to approve the minutes of
the June 25, 2008 Autumn Festival Committee meeting as written. VOICE VOTE:
Motion carried.
4. UNFINISHED BUSINESS
a. Discuss the 2008 Autumn Festival Activities
The Committee discussed the logistics of the Autumn Festival and where each member of
the Committee would be designated for each activity. Manager Patras asked that the
Committee members be at the Clubhouse at 9:00 a.m. the morning of the festival to help
set -up with the B & T staff for the activities. Sponsor tables will be located at each
activity for display of materials they wish to give to the public. Bath & Tennis Club staff
will have one of their team members at the cupcake decorating, two life guards at the
canoe /paddle boat area, one at the sand art activity and four located at the two Moon
Jumps. Mary Meranda will check with Ej az Khan if he will be the official photographer
for the festival.
The Committee discussed the concession area and requested that tablecloths be provided
for the 60" round tables. Chairman Gonnella announced that she would be retiring from
the Committee at the end of this year. Co- Chairman Effrein indicated that resident Joanne

Cascio wishes to serve on the Committee for next year.
Mary Meranda explained that information of the festival was sent to The Doings and the
Daily Herald. A photographer from The Doings will be taking pictures of the event for
their newspaper. Mary also noted that the financial report has to be adjusted as the Civic
Association newsletter insert for the Autumn Festival was $250.00 and a check was
already sent to Joan Philip. The Committee discussed the location of the SWAT vehicle
as Police Lt. Cates will be manning the activity with Police Officer Jason Woods from our
Police Department. Manager Patras explained that the menu for the festival was revised
after discussions with his staff. The location of the concession area was moved to the
sand volleyball area next to the pool. Three servers will be manning the buffet. A
portable stand will be located near the tennis courts with water and Gatorade for the
public.
He remarked that the Tennis Pro Wil will be conducting tennis activities for juniors from
noon to 2:00 p.m., 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. for adults and an adult round robin play from 4:00 to
5:00 p.m.
b. Approve Sponsorship Recognition Plaques
Co- Chairman Gonnella read the inscription to be placed on the sponsor plaque for Elkay
Corporation and the Committee reviewed the two plaques that were recommended. It was
a consensus of the Committee to approve the recognition plaques and inscription as
submitted to the Committee members.
5. NEW BUSINESS:
The Committee discussed their next meeting date for Wednesday, October 15th at 7:00
p.m.
6. ADJOURNMENT:
Motion by Co- Chairman Effrein, seconded by Member Antoniolli, to adjourn the meeting
at 8:15 p.m.
