Minutes - 09/14/2000 - Autumn Festival CommitteeAUTUMN FESTIVAL Committee
Minutes of September 14, 2000
1. MEETING CALL: The meeting was called to order at 7:15 p.m.
2. ROLL CALL: PRESENT, Mariette Adrian, Adam Butler, Nuha Dabbouseh,
Doreen Barrett, Barb Nasharr, Joan Philip, Bonnie Sartore
ABSENT: Joyce Antoniolli, Michelle Butler, Connie Craig, Carolyn Link, Jan
Lundquist, Ralph Maxson, Nelly Naguib, Tom Truedson
ALSO PRESENT: Karen Bushy, Linda Lojewski
3. Final decisions were made on some of the events for Autumn Fest. The committee
decided not to have the fortune teller. The possibility of a chiropractor setting up a
booth was discussed as he had done it for previous festivals (not in 1999). The
committee agreed that this would be permitted.
4. Raffle prizes were reviewed. At this time prizes were pretty sparse, but Bonnie told
the committee of several more that she knew were coming to complete the list.
5. Food vendors were discussed again. Only one responded to our solicitation letters.
Perhaps because the event is only a 5 hour one, some do not want to spend the money
for county permits and participate. The apple man from the Sandwich Fair Grounds
was mentioned but no one volunteered to follow up — Bonnie will have the B & T
staff do the caramel apples.
6. Parking: The possibility of using staff to collect parking money was discussed, but it
was agreed that staff was limited in numbers. Bonnie will see about using Oak Brook
personnel to direct traffic.
7. Volunteers are in short supply. Bonnie will contact the high school looking for clubs
or individuals in need of a service project. The possibility of McDonald's employees
doing this for a service project, as they do something annually, was also brought up by
Bonnie.
8. Cake Walk products once again is a concern. Bonnie informed the committee that
Jewel had agreed to donate 12 small cakes and that the B & T staff was prepared with
lots of rice krispie squares and brownies that could be cut and packaged if necessary.
9. Marlo salute ideas were discussed. It was suggested that the schools be contacted and
the children write some things to be compiled into a scrapbook for Sgt. Mucha.
10. NEXT MEETING: October 19th, 2000.
11. ADJOURNMENT: 8:40 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Linda Lojewski
