MINUTES OF THE NOVEMBER 2, 2006 MEETING OF THE
AUTUMN FESTIVAL COMMITTEE OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK
BROOK APPROVED AS WRITTEN ON JANUARY 25, 2007
CALL TO ORDER
The Regular Meeting of the Autumn Festival Committee was called to order by Chairman
Linda Gonnella at 7:08 p.m. in the Sports Core Administration Building, 700 Oak Brook
Road, Oak Brook, IL.
ROLL CALL
PRESENT: Chairman Linda Gonnella, Vice Chairman Nuha Dabbouseh, Members
Joyce Antoniolli, Connie Craig, Deborah Effrein and Nelly Naguib.
ABSENT: None.
IN ATTENDANCE: Mary Meranda, Sports Core Secretary.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Meeting Minutes of October 2, 2006
Motion by Connie Craig, seconded by Deborah Effrein, to approve the Autumn Festival
Meeting Minutes of October 2, 2006 as presented. VOICE VOTE: Motion carried.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
a. Discuss 2006 Autumn Festival Event
The Committee discussed the 2006 Autumn Festival. A smaller tent was recommended
for the food vendors, hire more Moon Jump equipment, move Bus -O -Fun closer to the
tennis courts, move the pumpkin painting activity onto the grass near the tennis courts by
the parking lot, move the Magic Show closer to the Clubhouse, check the generators for
gasoline before being used by the vendors, consider hiring a pony company, if the
trackless train activity returns determine a different location so as to consolidate the
activities closer to one another, expand the DuPage Children's Museum activities and
research new activities.
NEW BUSINESS
a. Discuss Sponsorship of 2007 Autumn Festival
Chairman Gonnella reported that at the Village Board meeting of November 14, 2006, the
Board will consider approval of the 2007 Autumn Festival Committee. She explained that
the Resolution to establish the Committee has been revised to state that the Committee
shall be known as the 2007 Autumn Festival Committee and shall consists of six (6) Oak

Brook residents. The six (6) shall elect two members to serve as Co- Chairmen of the
Committee. The Resolution was further amended that the funds that remain from the
successful 2006 Autumn Fest event be designated for the 2007 Autumn Fest event.
Trustee Manofsky asked at the Village Board Committee -of -the -Whole meeting that the
$5,000 allocated in the 2007 Village of Oak Brook Budget for the 2007 Autumn Festival
be deleted. The Board concurred with this recommendation. The Committee must raise
all of the funding for the event. Chairman Gonnella noted that the 2006 Autumn Festival
Financial Report presented to the Village Board of Trustees at their October 24, 2006
meeting was revised and the funds remaining from the 2006 Autumn Festival are $659.41
and will be used for the 2007 Autumn Festival event.
Chairman Gonnella informed the Committee that the 50th Anniversary of the Village of
Oak Brook will be held in 2008. Special activities will be held during the year and would
the Committee want to assist in those activities rather than hosting an Autumn Festival
event. The Committee unanimously concurred with this recommendation. Chairman
Gonnella will inform the Village Manager of this.
b. Discuss new activities for Autumn Festival
Connie Craig had mentioned at the last Committee meeting the consideration of forming
sub - committees to research new ideas, concepts, etc. for the event. Debra Effein and
Joyce Antoniolli will research food vendors, Nelly Naguib offered to contact vendors,
Nuha Dabbouseh and Connie Craig will research for new entertainment. Linda Gonnella
will work with Mary Meranda for the fundraising aspect of the event. Debra Effein
suggested some new activities such as a corn maze activity; cut outs on boards where the
participants insert his /her face with a painting on the board of certain figures and have
their picture taken or a vendor that does hair braiding. She will contact this vendor and
report to the Committee at the next meeting. Joyce Antoniolli indicated that her daughter
could paint the boards if we were able to supply the materials.
The Committee concurred that it was not necessary to meet in December. A meeting will
be scheduled in January and Chairman Gonnella will contact the Committee members for
a possible date.
ADJOURNMENT
Motion by Vice Chairman Dabbouseh, seconded by Deborah Effrein, to adjourn the
Autumn Festival Committee meeting at 8:15 p.m. VOICE VOTE: Motion carried.
