Minutes - 11/08/2001 - Autumn Festival CommitteeAUTUMN FESTIVAL Committee Minutes of November 8, 2001 MEETING CALL: The meeting was called to order at 7:10 p.m. ROLL CALL: PRESENT, Nuha Dabbouseh, Barb Nasharr, Joan Philip, Bonnie Sartore ABSENT: Mariette Adrian, Joyce Antoniolli, Adam Butler, Michelle Butler, Connie Craig, Christy Cushing, Jan Lundquist, Carolyn Link, Ralph Maxson, Nelly Naguib, Tom Truedson ALSO PRESENT: Karen Bushy, Linda Lojewski 3. Minutes: Minutes of Sept. 12, 2001 approved. 4. Preview Party evaluation: The committee was very positive in its evaluation of the Preview Party. The group's opinion was that being able to have the entire event in the newly renovated and enlarged Clubhouse was a big plus. There were no suggestions at this point for making any changes in next year's Preview Party. Autumn Festival events were discussed. Several of the members had not observed all of the activities on the festival Sunday, but all the activities had been seen or attended by someone on the committee so information on all of them was exchanged. It was agreed that all of the events and activities of this year will be asked to return next year. The committee is also looking for new events to add. There were a couple of complaints that paint used on the pumpkins was not washable (oversight by the purchaser). Next year an effort will be made to insure that all paint is washable. There will also be notices posted regarding the pumpkin painting event to help eliminate those complaints in the future. 6. Crafters: The committee discussed moving the crafters all into the food tent next year so it would be more condensed. It was also suggested that we set up a Courtesy Booth to hold items that are purchased so that guests do not have to carry them around all day. 7. Pet Parade: Over all, the committee felt the parade was a success for a first time event. Some changes will be made for future parades. Perhaps a One -Man Band or clown will be used as the Leader instead of a bagpiper, and two stairways will be provided to the stage so that participants will be able to march across the stage. In order to get pictures of the parade participants, a better lighted area is necessary. 8. Budget: Bonnie announced that the Autumn Festival two -day event came in under budget for the first time even though some events were extended for more hours and prices had gone up, but the budget set by the Village Board had not increased. 9. Replacement Committee Members: Bonnie noted that there are several vacancies on the committee due to the resignation of Christy Cushing, Adam and Michelle Butler. Committee members were asked to think about possible replacements. 10. Autumn Fest, 2002: Autumn Festival 2002 will be held on Sunday, September 29, 2002, with the Preview Party on September 28. 11. Next meeting: January 10, 2002. 12. Adjournment: 8:15 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Linda Lojewski
