Minutes - 02/20/1992 - Bath & Tennis Members' Committee4
• - MINUTES OF THE BATH AND TENNIS CLUB
ADVISORY COMMITTEE HELD - FEBRUARY 20, 1992
The meeting was called to order by Chair Pitsch at
9:10 A.M. Minutes were approved as read. Members present
were, E1 -Baz, Pitsch, Cronin, Manofsky and Duntemann.
Communication with members was discussed by Chair
Pitsch. We agreed the existence of the B &T needs to be
brought to the attention of all Oak Brook residents via the
following avenues:
1) Oak Brook Civic Association newsletter insert (see
attached 1). Add fees and specifics regarding pool
opening, tennis opening, Oak Brook Day (Monday of
Memorial Day). Faye will call Janis Wolak,
President of O.B.C.A.
2) Village newsletter - Renee will call President
Bushy.
3) Our newsletter to previous members.
4) Oak Brook Tennis Association flyer.
5) Send home flyers with school children at Oak Brook,
Elmhurst and Downers Grove grade schools.
Mr. McAdams gave a report on the Village Board cut -backs
of his proposed 1992 budget. Chair Pitsch passed out
accounting figures gleaned from proposals made by staff (see
attached 2). Membership goals were discussed (see attached).
3). Improvements were prioritized as follows due to safety
issues: 1) fix pool tiles, 2) ramp repair, 3) locker room
restoration, 4) resurface one har -tru tennis court, 5) tennis
cooler. These total $19,800.
Starr recommended the B &T Club House be made available
for tours for interested persons and payment of fees. The
_ idea was abandoned because staff felt signing up members in
the Club House would be too cumbersome.
Our next meeting is scheduled for March 19, 9:00 A.M.
at B &T administration building. The meeting was adjourned at
11:00 A.M.

Nestled back on beautiful wooded acreage, you'll find a serene
setting to enjoy all the best summer has to offer. Conveniently
located just a few minutes from your home, you can enjoy it
_ weekdays as well as weekends.
•Are you a swimmer?
- Olympic size pool with two lanes reserved for lap swimming.
-A diving pool and a wading pool
Prefer just an ocasional dip? How about a game of bridge on the
deck? Or bring a good book and find a quiet place on the grass.
Maybe you'd just like to get to know more of your neighbors.
Are you a tennis player?
-9 Har -Tru courts (a clay like surface) and 3 hard courts
- Unique layout of the courts
-Top quality lessons, leagues and traveling teams
These are the reasons we attract some of the best players in our
area. Just a beginner? You won't be alone. No matter what your
level, you'll find opportunities to improve and competition
you'll enjoy.
For children, the Bath & Tennis Club is a great place to spend
the summer.
- Swimming and Tennis lessons
-Swim team, Diving team and Tennis team
These offer great opportunities to improve skills and meet a lot
of new friends.
One other aspect of the past we've tried to preserve are
unorganized activities -- the concept that children need a little
down time, too. What we've discovered is that if you provide
children with a safe environment and room to run, they make their
own fun. For the younger children, it's sandcastles on the
beach. When they get a little older, they can explore the lake
in a canoe looking for turtles on the rocks. On the grass it's
Running Bases, Catch and Volleyball. The latest game they've
invented is "Mini Tennis." In the pool its Dolphin tag and Marco
Polo. All of this under the watchful and caring eyes of the
Swimming and Tennis staff.
We believe our facilities are second to none in this area. We've
compared our rates and membership categories. They are fair and
competitive, whether you wish to join as a family or as an
individual. We also have special rates for children and seniors.
If you're new to Oak Brook, besides being a lot of fun, it's also
a great place to meet new friends.
If you've been here before, we think it's time you took a 2nd
look.
Nobody knows the B &T like we do. And we'd hate to think of you
missing another summer of fun.
