MINUTES OF THE OAK BROOK BATH & TENNIS
COMMITTEE MEETING HELD JUNE 169 1992
The meeting was called to order by Chair Pitsch at 7:35
p.m. All members were present. The minutes of the May 19,
1992 meeting were approved.
Open Forum - no comments from audience. Renee Cronin
reported a riot occured at the Sports Fest in New Jersey
promoted by the same people who promoted the MTV Sports Fest
held in Oak Brook, June 6 & 7. It was agreed the village
security helped avoid such problems. See attached article.
Trustee Shumate & Chuck McAdams joined the meeting and we
discussed future polo events in relation to the Bath & Tennis
Club. Trustee Shumate expressed concern over polo parties
using the Bath & Tennis clubhouse four Sundays this summer.
He updated us on changes he hopes to make on the B &T grounds:
1) paint B &T building
2) replace shower stalls
3) add gravel where necessary
He mentioned changes needed at the golf course, (riff raff
the lakes) no free rounds of play or free carts, trying to
get the bubble up on the tennis court and minor changes on
the polo fields. Trustee Shumate said the pool needs new
starting blocks. The specifications need to be forwarded to
Chuck McAdams so the work can be done correctly. The bubble
will be on the Village Board agenda June 23. Mr. Shumate
told us to bring our suggestions to Mr. McAdms. Mrs. Malik
told Mr. McAdams people are bringing food into our pool area.
He said he would instruct Deb Pederson to tell people "no
coolers ". Regarding children being dropped off with no
supervision, Trustee Shumate suggested we call the public
service officer to take the children home to the parents, or
report the child to Chuck's secretary so she can call the
parents.
Regarding the election of new members, the Village Clerk
recommended we number the ballots so each member has a number
but can not be identified by number.
It was moved and seconded we keep the age of kids dropped
off at 12. This failed 3 -2. Chair Pitsch asked staff to
recommend bottom limit on age of junior member. Faye moved
we keep the age at 8. This died due to lack of a second.
Trustee Shumate recommended we have Tom figure out ways to
tighten discipline between the guards and rowdy children.
Mr. Lindeman asked why the new courts under the bubble
would be free to members in the summer, but be charged to the
non - members in the winter.
Mrs. Cronin stated how happy she is that our trustee is a
Sports Core member and user.
Meeting was adjourned at 10:30 p.m.
