NEW, Chief Village of Oak Brook Fire Phone 654 -2121 Oak Brook, Illinois Marchsl0 195e 654 -260 Gentlemen: The training program has been in effect for the past six weeks. Beginning with our January 18th meeting, I called each firemen and asked them to report to hear an explanation of a concentrated program of instruction for 26 weeks. The response of the firemen was very good and the attendance is good. We have a drill from 10:00 to 12:00 A. Z. can Wednesdays for the men unable to attend evening drills. The average attendance at this meeting is 7. The evening drill in, as in the past, on Wednesday from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. The average attendi«nce is 11. The A.M. - drill is very gratifying because in the past we were unable to have instructions for these men except at their convenience on Saturdays. Many of the drills are a repetition of our past programs, Mr. R'. Schaff, our training instructor and firemen with River Forest Fire Department,1s doing a very good class presentation and being familiar with our new equipment, I have asked him to drill the firemen in 3 and 4 loan relays, so the mare will understand all the technicalities of this teechnios l equipment. Our modified record system has to be enlarged since our village is growing so rapidly. I have asked Mr. Schoff for updated ideas in this area. If we can in the future build up our water reservoir And h drant syste,a, we can be reclassified by the Illinois Inspection Lureau. This has to be a far cry from when we first started and indiVidua.ls put water storRge tanks in the ground on their properties to help us. I would like to ask that the Village and the Oak Brook Utilities settle our water supply during 1967, if poxalble. Hydrants are a necessity where there are gatherings of people, such sae, schools, churches, ate. 'We all know our insurance is governed by our classification. We have come a long Fray with fire protection and with your help can reach the ultimate In all areas. TG date 1 have mailed 20 applications to interested men for a full time firemen's position. Twelve of these have been returned at this time. On 3/12/b7 Mr. Hosxman and myself are : *viewing these applications and will interview these men with the plan of having three full time firemen on our force by April i, 1967. The manuals, salary of Instructor, etc. submitted this month are - coats covering this valuable program. f x111.' keep thee' Board informed as to the progress of it.
