Minutes - 05/01/1958 - Board of Trustees
�SOT mica. The first Oak Brook Village Board of Trustees meeting was called to order by President To A. Mohlam on Thursday evening tlay 1st at 7 :30 in the Butler Company Oakbrook Division offices, The roll was called with all trustees present. Mr. Mohlman celled upon Mr. Paul Butler, asking wbother ho would be willing, to giva the history on the situation that lead up to the incorporation of the Village of Oakbrook. Mr. Butler responded - saying that the question of incorporation had been under study for some time, and that in finally acting upon incorporation, the Butler Company had acted under the bent adviso available. That the advice in this had come to the Butler Company for the Uakbrunk property directly from Du1Pape County itself, and the -Hortrd of Superr; sore directing the affairs of the county, who hold the Oakbrook property in high regard and are anxious for it to continue as a highly meritorious attraction in the county. That in addition to this advice, the Butler Compaxki had also the baaefit and help of s)me of its consultants, as specialtats i,n their respective i'?elds. Ana third, the Company had 0ocussed the situation with several of its closer reiahbors owning contiguous prop- erty and particularly those who were owners on teccrd as being a part of Oakbrook. Requests and petitions for annexation to the Village of Oak- brook were innumerated by Mr. Butler for the Board of Trustees as followst (a) Butler Company awned property contiguous to and north of the present Village of Oakbrook. (b) Marshall Field & Company owned property contiguous to Butler Comppany own ©d property on the ror~th. (c) H. O. Owen, Jr. and certain other adjoining owned prop- erty contiguous to Butler CompaM owned property or. the north. Here - after thin ordinance shah be known as $ -1. The voting was as followat Mr. Calhoun • yes, Mr. Carlson - yes, Mr. Kolar - yeas Mr. Krueger yes, Mrs. Peyton. - yes, Mr. Mohlman - yes, Mr. Butler - abstaining. Ayes - 6, Noye - C, Abstained - 1. Pair, Frank Nolar made the motion$ seconded by Mr. Albert Krueger te% neopt the Ordinance Establishing Official Time and Place for Meet- ings of the Board of Trustees of the Village of Oakbrook, DAPage County, Illinois and Establishing Certain fUles and Regulations for the Conduct of Such Meetings and for the Calling of Special Meotings, a copy of which said ordinance is attached hereto and by reference made a part of these minutes. This ordinance hereafter will be known as G -1. The voting as follows$ Ares - 7 Nays - 0. The meetings will be the second Tuesday of each month at the Sutler GompauW, Oakbrook. Division offices at 7t30 ky. President Mohlman read a letter from Mr. Harry Owen, Jr. re- questing anrsexation into the 'Village of Oakbrook. Mr, Frank Kolar left the meeting at 8t10 PM. As a matter of special interest, there was conveyed to the Board by Paul Butler th-t followinz information, pertaining to certain activities and development of Oakbrook, as occurring prior to its recent incorporation as a village. The Butler Compapyp Mr. Butler said, had employed as consultants certain specialists in their fields. The results had been gratifying and good to the point that no change had been found necessary► to make, to date, from the original selections.
