Roll Call • The Special Meeting was called to order at 8:00 P.M. by President Howell. All trustees were present. B, SPORTS CORE REFERENDUM Trustee Brown moved - seconded by Trustee Cerne. . . To recess the meeting for approximately one hour to allow for additional time to review the proposed contract relative to Sports Core Referendum. Roll call voL-e: Ayes: Trustees Brown, Cerne, Glaves, Philip, Reynolds, Rush and President Howell Nays: None Absent: None So ordered. President Howell reconvened the meeting at 9:40 P.M. and stated: This is a special meeting of the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Oak Brook called by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Oak Brook pursuant to a motion unanimously adopted by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Oak Brook at a Regular Meeting held on Tuesday, May 24, 1977, to be held on May 31, 1977 at 8:00 P.M. in the Samuel E. Dean Board Room of the Oak Brook Village Commons for the purpose of: 1. Considering and acting upon an ordinance authorizing the making and execution of an agreement between the Village and the Butler Company whereby the Village would agree to purchase and Butler Company would agree to sell approximately 269 acres of property commonly referred to as the Butler International Sports Core, Oak Brook, Illinois, together with such attendant doc- uments as therein provided, and a Management Agreement between the Village and Butler International Sports Core, Inc. 2. Considering and acting upon an ordinance calling for a referendum of electors to approve the said purchase and to authorize and approve the issue of general obligation bonds of the Village to finance the same purchase. Notice of this special meeting was posted in the Village Hall on May 26, 1977, and has remained posted to this time, and all newspapers on record with the Village were notified on May 26, 1977, of the call of this special meeting. Trustee Cerne presented an analysis of the proposed Contract which is conditioned upon an affirmative vote of the referendum and is subject to the budget and policies of the Village, and conditions of the deed. President Howell asked if anyone present had any questions. No one responded. Page 1 of 2 Page 2 Special Meeting May 31, 1977 Ordinance S -375 AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION AND DELIVERY OF A CERTAIN AGREEMENT OF PURCHASE AND ATTENDANT DOCUMENTS FOR THE PROPERTY CONNONLY REFERRED TO AS THE BUTLER INTERNATIONAL SPORTS CORE Prior to voting, Trustee Brown stated he was in favor of the Sports Core concept, but not in favor of the purchase agreement and felt the contract as presented had clauses protecting private uses and more time should be taken to review and negotiate. Trustee Cerne stated that in the final hour, just minor changes were made to a reasonable good proposition and the voter should be given the opportunity to decide on the acquisition, and he was satisfied that the contract follows the concept. Trustee Glaves stated there was an obligation to bring this matter to the residents promptly. Trustee Cerne moved - seconded by Trustee Rush. To approve Ordinance S -375 as read by Title. Roll call vote: Ayes: Trustees Cerne, Glaves, Philip, Reynolds, Rush and President Howell Nays: Trustee Brown Absent: None So ordered. Ordinance S -376 CALLING A SPECIAL ELECTION TO BE HELD IN AND FOR THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, DuPAGE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS, ON TUESDAY, THE 21st DAY OF JUNE, 1977 Trustee Cerne moved - seconded by Trustee Philip. . . To approve Ordinance S -376 as read by Title. Roll call vote: Ayes: Trustees Brown, Cerne, Glaves, Philip, Reynolds, Rush and President Howell Nays: None Absent: None So ordered. C.
