Motion not carried
'trustee Congreve reviewed the request of the York Woods
Hcxneowneyrs Association relative to t_he .acceptance on the
hart of the municipality of the existing gas bights located
in the remaining York Woods subdivision, It was the feeling
of the Public Works and Utilities Comm.ttee that the ex-
isting gas lights do not meet the minimum standards for
residential street lighting as established for the Village
of lak Brook and, moreover, due to the cast of operation and
maintenance and the inefficiency of lighting, there would be
no benef:.t in the municipality owning and operating this
lighting system. However, it was recommended that if the
lighting systent was brought into conformance with the Oak
Brook standard or the people would agree to bear the cost of
updating the system to our new standard, that we mould re-
cammend acceptance of the street lights Furthers it was
recommended that this lighting system be offered to all areas
of the Village of Oak Brook and that if the homeowners and
property owners wished to bear the cost of this systene the
Village of ')ak Brook should, providing the projects are of
sufficient size to justify construction. provide plans.
specifications and bidding for the areas.
