Minutes - 07/11/2011 - Board of TrusteesMINUTES OF THE JULY 11, 2011 SPECIAL MEETING OF THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK APPROVED AS WRITTEN ON JULY 26, 2011. CALL TO ORDER The Special Meeting of the Village Board of Trustees was called to order by Village President Gopal Lalmalani in the Samuel E. Dean Board Room of the Butler Government Center at 5:21 p.m. 2. ROLL CALL Village Clerk Charlotte Pruss called the roll with the following persons: PRESENT: President Gopal Lalmalani, Trustees Michael Manzo, Mark Moy, Gerald Wolin, Asif Yusuf, and Elaine Zannis. ABSENT: Trustee Stelios Aktipis IN ATTENDANCE: David Niemeyer, Village Manager; Robert Kallien, Community Development Director, Marcia Tropinski, Chairwoman of the Plan Commission, and Richard Knitter, Former Plan Commission Member. DISCUSSION OF PLAN COMMISSION AND ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS COMMISSIONERS — VACANCIES AND INTERVIEWS On the Plan Commission there are currently 4 appointed positions that have been expired terms and 2 vacated positions. On the Zoning Board of Appeals there are currently 3 appointed positions that have expired terms and 1 vacated position. The following residents were interviewed for the positions: 1. Raj B. Lal (interviewed by phone) 2. Kenneth C. Wilczak 3. Lakshman M. Agadi 4. Al Knuth 5. Simon Sheers 6. Alfred P Savino 7. Naveen Jain 8. V. Raj aram 9. Vera Klempir 10. John C. Murray Resident Mai Truong did not show up for the interview. Resident's were asked the following questions: 1. Please briefly tell us about yourself. 2. Have you in the past or are you now involved with any community groups, boards or commissions? 3. Why do you want to be a member of the Plan Commission? 4. As a member of the Plan Commission, you will have the opportunity to review and VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK MINUTES Page 1 of 2 SPECIAL MEETING OF JULY 11, 2011 make recommendations on subdivisions /resubdivisions in the Village, some special uses as well as review amendments to the Village's Zoning Ordinance and Comprehensive Plan. With regards to the Village's Ordinances and Plan, what changes do you think should be made as Oak Brook moves forward in its efforts to revitalize the community? 4. ADJOURN TO CLOSED MEETING To discuss the selection of a person to fill a public office, as defined in this act, including a vacancy in a public office, when the public body is given power to appoint under law or ordinance, or the discipline, performance or removal of the occupant of a public office, when the public body is given power to remove the occupant under law or ordinance (20) Motion by Trustee Zannis, seconded by Trustee Wolin to adjourn to closed session to discuss the selection of a person to fill a public office, as defined in this act, including a vacancy in a public office, when the public body is given power to appoint under law or ordinance, or the discipline, performance or removal of the occupant of a public office, when the public body is given power to remove the occupant under law or ordinance (2C3). ROLL CALL VOTE: Ayes: 5 — Trustees Manzo, Moy, Wolin, Yusuf, and Zannis Nays: 0 — None Abstain: 0 — None Absent: 1 — Trustee Aktipis Motion carried. This meeting was adjourned to Closed Meeting at 8:20 pm. 5. ADJOURNMENT Motion by Trustee Wolin, seconded by Trustee Zannis to adjourn the Special Meeting of the Board of Trustees at 8:35 p.m. ROLL CALL VOTE: Ayes: 5 — Trustees Manzo, Moy, Wolin, Yusuf, and Zannis Nays: 0 — None Abstain: 0 — None Absent: 1 — Trustee Aktipis Motion carried.
