CALL TO ORDER
The Special Meeting of the Village Board of Trustees was called to order by Village Clerk,
Charlotte Pruss in the Upper Level Conference Room of the Butler Government Center at 6:32
p.m.
ROLL CALL
Village Clerk Charlotte Pruss called the roll with the following persons:
PRESENT: Trustees Moin Saiyed, Gerald Wolin, and Mark Moy
ABSENT: President Craig, Trustees Zannis, Carson, and Aktipis
IN ATTENDANCE: David Niemeyer. Village Manager
This Special Meeting is called to conduct interviews for recommendations of the appointments to
the Firefighters' Pension Fund Board, Library Commission and Board of Fire and Police
Commission.
David Niemeyer, Village Manager stated at this point in the meeting they did not have enough
Trustees to have a quorum. He spoke with the Village Attorney who stated if the Board desires
they can move forward with the interviews of the candidates, but they can not appoint an Acting
Chairman for the meeting or make any decisions in regards to candidates. Village Manager also
stated he had received a call from Trustee Aktipis informing him he would be late for the
meeting. David Niemeyer, Village Manager recommended to the other Trustees present at this
time to go ahead with the interview of Sharon Dangles, Acting Finance Director for the
Firefighters' Pension Fund Board. He further stated when Trustee Aktipis arrived they could
formally vote for an Acting Chairman for the meeting and make decisions for the remaining
candidates. All Trustees present agreed.
3. INTERVIEW OF APPLICANTS FOR BOARD COMMITTEE AND COMMISSIONS
There were a total of 7 residents interviewed who applied for the various Boards, Commissions
and Committees.
Trustees interviewed Sharon Dangles, Acting Finance Director for the Firefighters' Pension Fund
Board,
Trustee Aktipis joined the meeting at 6:41 p.m. during the interviewing process of Sharon
Dangles, Acting Finance Director.
Since Trustee Aktipis joined the meeting, Clerk Pruss called for an Acting Chairman for tonight's
meeting. Motion by Trustee Wolin, seconded by Trustee Moy, to appoint Trustee Aktipis as
Acting Chairman in the absence of President Craig.
The interviewing process for Sharon Dangles. Acting Finance Director was continued and
completed.
Discussion was held on the process for moving forward with recommendations to the Village

President for appointments for the remaining Boards, Commissions and Committees.
Trustee Aktipis welcomed each applicant and began the interview with a brief explanation of the
process.
4. RECOMMENDATIONS TO VILLAGE PRESIDENT
Firefighters' Pension Fund Board. Since prior candidates for the Firefighters' Pension Fund
Board were interviewed in a previous meeting a motion was made. Motion by Trustee Aktipis,
seconded by Trustee Moy, to recommend to the Village President that Sharon Dangles, Acting
Finance Director be appointed to the Firefighters' Pension Fund Board. VOICE VOTE. Motion
carried.
There were three applicants to be interviewed for the Library Commission, Roberta Petz, Dr.
Biswamay Ray, and Herb Amquist. Meg Klinkow Hartmann, Library Director joined the
interviewing process for the Library Commission. Each applicant was individually interviewed
and a consensus was formed for recommendations to the Village President for appointment to the
Library Commission. Roberta Petz and Dr. Biswamay Ray were recommended for appointment
to the Village President. Regarding the recommendation for Herb Amquist it was decided that
this would be done at a later date when all other candidates have been interviewed for this Board.
There were three applicants to be interviewed for the Board of Fire and Police Commission, Dr.
Raymond Dunn, John Pircon, Dr. Michael Forutan. Each applicant was individually interviewed
and a consensus was formed for a recommendation to the Village President for appointment to
the Board of Fire and Police Commission. Trustees felt that all candidates were qualified but no
recommendation would be made at this time until all other candidates who had applied for the
Board of Fire and Police Commission were interviewed.
5. ADJOURN
Motion by Wolin, seconded by Trustee Saiyed, to adjourn the special meeting of August 3, 2009
at 8:26 p.m. VOICE VOTE. Motioned carried.
