Minutes - 08/23/1994 - Board of Trustees1. vor6a, 50re- i K) 40 m 24431.q Lf . ,.r .l MEETING CALL: The Regular Meeting of the Board of Trustees was called to order by Clerk Gonnella in the Samuel E. Dean. Board Room of the Village Commons at 7:30 p . m - Pledge of Allegiance was given. Village Clerk Gonnella asked for a motion before the floor to appoint Trustee Denny as Temporary Chairman in the absence of President Bushy. Motion by Trustee McInerney, seconded by Trustee Calzaretta, to appoint Trustee Kenny as Temporary Chairman for the Regular Board of Trustees meeting in the absence of President Bushy. VOICE VOTE: Motion carried. MEETING CALL TEMPORARY CHAIRMAN Temporary Chairman Kenny asked for a "moment of silence" in memory and MoHLMAN respect for the passing of Mr. Ted Mohlman., the Village's first President, who served from April, 1959 to April, 1967. Mr. Mo h1man died at the age of 81 on August 4th (a Memorial Service was held on August 9 j . The Village has lowered its flag to half-staff in memory of Mr. Mohler . 3. ANNOUNCEMENTS & OPEN FORUM: ANNOUI4ICEMENTS AND Resident, Harry Terlecki, distributed information to all the V111W Board OPEN r0RUM members regarding the Sports Core. He inquired into when the public will be able to review the Sports Core study. Villap Manager Veitch stated the Village has received three proposals. The Village Board will review these proposals at the second regular meeting of September to select a consultant. Staff is presently reviewing these proposals, as the scope of services are being adjusted. Resident, Howard Trier, stated he had hoped Trustee Shumate would be in attendance of the meeting to clarify his statement at the August 9, 1994 Board meeting stating: "if the Tennis Dome operation was in arrears, monies would come from the General Fund to pay for its e..penditures" . Mr. Trier stated this revenue subsidizeE €.ire and police protection anal, in the past, refuse 'elm . Trustee Calzaretta suggested Trustee Shumate ve mad a mis —e his statement, as the Tennis Dome has been forecasted to have s icient earnings, but gaff fee revenue would pay for the loan of the Tennis Dome construction costs if a shortfall would occur. 2. RECOMMENDATION - OAK BROOK CHRISTIAN CENTER 3100 Midwesl Roads ° �PECIAI; tISE AAMMMENT - TEXT AMENDMENT: The Plan Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals have held the required hearings regarding this petilion and have recommended approval subject to the following conditions: 1. The Phase II parking surrounding the existing residence at the southwest corner of the site is not approved. The plans have been modified to delineate the Phase II area. If, upon completion of the balance of the site the parking in this area is still needed, the petitioner will request apps of s further amendment to their Special Ilse; 2. The landscape plans have been died to include a berm along the west lot lines where the adjacent grades are approximately level; 3. All landscaping and berms are to be installed with the initial Parking lot expansion , This includes the perimeter of the Phase II area; 4. The landscaping will be nnaintained indefinitely. Any pegs which are not successful or which subsequently do not survive shall be replaced; and 5. The existing parking lot lighting shall be adjusted to prevent light Spillage off -site and to reduce as much as passible the visibility of the sources of illumimt%n from off -site. The existing and future lights are to be turned off when the parking areas are not in use.
