Place your vote in the Library for Oak Brook’s most-loved book. The Library is hosting its own version of The Great American Read. This national program sponsored by PBS features an 8-part series. Led by award-winning composer Gene Knific on piano, whose latest composition was performed at this summer’s Ravinia Festival, the Trio also includes Tom Knific on bass and Jon Deitemyer on drums. The Trio performs jazz classics as well as 20th century classical compositions. For more information about the Gene Knific Trio, please visit www.geneknific.com. The Evergreen Concert is free to the public, and reservations are not required. A drawing for a free CD will be held and refreshments will be served following the performance. This ongoing program will help build your child’s vocabulary, print awareness, early literacy skills and more as you read 1000 books before they start their first day of Kindergarten.
