CALL TO ORDER
The Meeting of the Sports Core Advisory Committee of the Village of Oak Brook was held in the
Upper Level Conference Room at the Butler Government Center and called to order by
Chairwomen Angie Lopez at 7:00 p.m.
PRESENT: Angie Lopez, John Anos,LaraBarber, Erin Converse, Melissa Martin, Kathy Miller,
Mike Stevens, Frank Scarpiniti,
ABSENT: Lynna Smith
IN ATTENDANCE: Village Manager Rick Ginex, Village President Gopal Lalmalani, Village
Trustee John Baar, Executive Assistant Donna Bettin, Golf Club Manager Sean
Creed, Oak Brook Park District Assistant Director of Recreation Karen Spandikow
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Chairwoman Angie Lopezmotioned to approve the minutes from the March 15,2018 Sports Core
Advisory Committee meeting as written. Seconded by Member Melissa Manin. Voice vote. Motion
carried.
PUBLIC COMMENTS - None
OAK BROOK PARK DISTRICT - Karen Spandikow, Assistant Director of Recreation for the Oak
Brook Park District introduced herself and explained that she will be replacing Jessica Gray for
management of the pool operations. She continued to explain her years of experience, her areas of
expertise and her positive outlook on this year's pool season at the Bath & Tennis Club. Questions
and discussion ensued.
Chairman Lopezthanked Karen for attending the meeting.
GOLF CLUB UPDATES
A. Renovation Update: Pro Shop and Patio - Sean Creed reported that the weather has not been
good lately, however they are able to get work done while the golfers are away. They built a
retaining wall, planted trees along York Road, sign came in and is installed. Patio discussions
begin next week. Did a lot of paving where they park the golf carts. The last time the cart paths
were paved was 1997 and they need to be renewed. They will go out to bid for extensive cart
path paving. On Monday, they will begin to aerate the polo field and putting down the sand.
Grandstands will arrive in a couple of weeks. The tennis program has begun. Discussion ensued
regarding way-finding signage for Polo throughout the sports core grounds. Pro Shop for both
tennis and golf was also discussed.
BATH & TENNIS CLUB
A. Bath & Tennis Club Signage Update - Manager Ginex explained that the permits are squared
away for the B & T sign. He also reported that the Bath & Tennis Club drive and pool grounds
are being cleared of dead trees and brush and new trees are being planted. Next year the plan is
to redo the circle drive with pavers. It will take approximately 4 - 6 weeks'
B. Pool Update - Manager Ginex explained that the pool is filled and heated. There may be a slight
leak in the lap pool. Public Works will be keeping an eye in it.

C. Snack Shop Food - Manager Ginex handed out a possible menu for the snack shop. Discussion
ensued.
D. Tennis Update - Tennis has begun and courts are being used. There have been a lot of requests
to be able to register for Tennis programs on-line.
E. Membership Update - Manger Ginex distributed a membership analysis to-date. Numbers are
low but it is still early in the year. Membership numbers will pick up closer to the pool opening.
SURVEY - Chairman Lopezrequested to have everyone come up with some possible survey
questions for the next meeting.
OTHER BUSINESS - Manager Ginex complimented the Public Works staff for the great work they
are doing and the Bath & Tennis Club and Marianne Long for the excellent work she is doing with
facility event rentals of the Clubhouse. Discussion ensued about the parking issues/challenges with
soccer spectators on the weekends when the Clubhouse is rented out and tennis programs are running.
