shoots that took place at the Hotel Properties for the leisure campaign and showed the finished
product. This video was advertised on Facebook posts and Chicago parent eblasts. One click
took you to the video. There was a huge spike in traffic to the website. Meeting Planners video
was shown for the incentive program. This video went out in a series of 3 emails. If someone
clicked on the video, it would go to the Hotels landing page, play the video and the user would
answer a few short questions to see what they retained. If they answered the questions correctly,
they were put into a drawing for a free iPhone. They had about 20 submissions to-date.
Discussion ensued.

DU PAGE CONVENTION AND VISITORS BUREAU UPDATE
Beth Marchetti announced new brochures will be out shortly for each of their communities with a
tear off map. She will drop off some of the brochures at our location and the Hotels. Beth
explained that they are currently working with a lot of changes, a strategic plan, a new brand, and
currently conducting a sports study. It was determined that DCVB is not competitive in the sports
arena and would like to raise that bar, therefore they are researching the possibilities. The one
viable location is the 84 lane bowling alley in Addison that is camera, TV and tournament ready.
DCVB rallied DuPage communities and DuPage County for monetary support and will be
hosting the Women's USBC Bowling Tournament. It is 64,000 hotel rooms over the course of a
3-month period in202l.
Beth mentioned she was on WGN on Mother's Day trying to pitch the County and kinship, area
attractions, hotels and amenities. They will be launching a health and wellness campaign. June
2, 2Ol8 is National Trails Day, and as part of their brand "The Healthiest County in Illinois" they
met with the Forest Preserve District and will be holding a kick-off event on National Trails Day.
She also received a couple of leads, one was from the Illinois Film office looking for vacant
schools to shoot a new TV Pilot and they reached out to the Regional Office of Education for any
schools that may be available. DCVB sent someone to the National Association of Sports
Commissions and brought back some information on the another lead. They are looking for
34,000 SF of space for an Olympic Qualifier Boxing event that would be bringing in
approximately 6,000 room nights. They are willing to utilize up to 2 empty warehouses. DCVB
will be reaching out to some of the area developers to assist in gaining space.
They had someone attending a couple of pharmaceutical shows to try and bring some medical
meetings/conferences here. Beth also talked about the pilot grant program. All information is on
the Discover DuPage website. To-date, that program has brought 20,000 booked hotel rooms
through this program. Discussion ensued.
OTHER BUSINESS
Manager Ginex gave an update on the natatorium and apartments proposed in Westmont.
Discussion ensued.
Development updates include: Shake Shack by the Citibank building will be coming this year.
McDonalds, Gitson's is purchasing some property from them just south of their 22nd
restaurant/building for parking. McDonald's Plaza has received some proposals and perhaps
there will be some news soon. There is still no information on the campus, but there is interest in
the soccer helds. McDonald's will probably only keep a couple hundred people in the Village
beginning in June at their Jorie Blvd location.
Amazon - we have not heard anything other than Chicago is on the short list. Discussion ensued.

Michael Nieder provided an update of items at Oakbrook Center. Sears development along with
LL Bean is anticipating a late summer/4th quarter opening. Lord and Taylor's lease expires at the
end of the year. They will be cutting out that space for renewal. Summer movies begin June 14
every Wednesday this summer on the Village Greens. Cilantro will be present with their food
truck. Also, this is the 50th reunion of the Father's Day Car Show, so they will be bringing about
50-60 additional cars this year.
Manager Ginex explained that the Village Board just signed a contract with Chariot for Last Mile
Transportation Services. Buses will pick up/drop off people to/from the Elmhurst train station
tolfrom business locations within the Village. This service is initially funded by a grant the
Village received several years ago and property owners funding 20oh,RT A funding 80% the first
year and the second year a 50%-50% split for year two. It is hopeful that we can use the grant for
2 train stations and spread the funding out over a S-year time frame.
ADJOURNMENT
Motion by Dr. Abbasy, seconded by K. Duncan to adjourn the meeting of the Hotel Convention
and Visitors Committee Meeting at l1:27am. Meeting adjourned.
