Legends of Sun Records Music Tuesday, July 9 @ 7 pm Join musician Randy Walker as he performs the hit music of Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, Jerry Lee Lewis & Carl Perkins on acoustic guitar. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library Creating Eco-Friendly Yards with The Conservation Foundation Thursday, July 11 @ 7 pm Jim Kleinwachter will discuss a variety of techniques for transforming your yard including the use of rain barrels, rain gardens and the selecting native plants to solve yard problems while attracting dozens of species of beneficial wildlife such as butterflies and songbirds. Participants will receive a butterfly attraction and identification pamphlet and native plant guide. Stock & Bond Investing for Beginners Monday, July 22 @ 7 pm Tim Lambert returns to present his one-hour course in the basics of stocks and bonds, with an emphasis on stocks, for the student who wants to self direct their investments. No previous investing experience is required and all ages of students are encouraged to attend. The program will include a question and answer session. Citizens Utility Board: Home Energy Savings Workshop Wednesday, July 24 @ 7 pm Learn about free programs designed to save you energy and money; how to decode your gas and electric bill, spot errors, and avoid scams; the latest Illinois energy policies and how they will impact your energy choices; and the future of renewable energy in the area. Consumers are not required to bring their utility bills for this presentation. Adult Summer Reading Program Stop by the Adult Services Reference Desk to sign up and receive your reading log and a kick-off prize! Open to participants ages 14 and older. Read or listen to five books checked out from the Library. Upon completion, participants will be entered into a drawing sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
