DEAN BOARD ROOM BUTLER GOVERNMENT CENTER 1200 OAK BROOK ROAD OAK BROOK, ILLINOIS 630-368-5000 AGENDA ITEM Regular Board of Trustees Meeting of July 9, 2019 SUBJECT: Surplus Property FROM: Rania Serences, Senior Purchasing Assistant BUDGET SOURCE/BUDGET IMPACT: N/A RECOMMENDED MOTION: I move that the Village Board adopt the attached ordinance authorizing the sale of surplus items. Background/History: The attached ordinance authorizes the sale of vehicles and office furniture from various departments that have reached the end of their useful lives or have been replaced with newer models. As part of the Vehicle Lease Agreement with Enterprise Fleet Management, Inc., they will sell the vehicles at auction. All proceeds from the auction will be given to the Village minus a $400 administrative fee per vehicle. Staff will register the surplus furniture with iBid, an online auctioneer run by the State of Illinois. If no bids are received through the online auction, staff will first reach out to non- profit organizations to donate, then, any remaining items will be disposed of properly. Recommendation: Staff recommends that the Village Board adopt the attached ordinance authorizing the sale of surplus items. ITEM 6.D.2 ORDINANCE 2019-PP-S-1574 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE SALE THROUGH AUCTION OR BROKER, DONATION OR DISPOSAL OF CERTAIN ITEMS OF PERSONAL PROPERTY OWNED BY THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK WHEREAS, in the opinion of a majority of the corporate authorities, it is no longer necessary or useful or in the best interests of the Village to retain the items of personal property listed below; and WHEREAS, the Village wishes to dispose of said property by sale through auction or broker, donation or disposal; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF OAK BROOK, DU PAGE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS as follows: Section 1: The foregoing recitals are incorporated herein as findings of the corporate authorities. Section 2: Pursuant to 65 ILCS 5/11-76-4, the President and Board of Trustees find that the item s listed in Exhibit A, now owned by the Village, are surplus property and are no longer necessary or useful to the Village and the best interests of the Village will be served by their sale through auction or broker, donation or disposal. Section 3: Pursuant to 65 ILCS 5/11-76-4, the Village Manager is hereby authorized and directed to dispose of the above item s by sale through auction or broker, if possible, or by donation or disposal if sale is not possible, as designated in Section 2. Section 4: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication as required by law. APPROVED THIS 9th day of July 2019. Gopal G.
