Five Sullivan Brothers: the Inspiration Behind Saving Private Ryan
Sunday, November 3 @ 2 pm
Hal Burke, veteran and president of Victor & Valor Memories,
presents the early WWII Pacific War naval history, as well as the
legacy of the five Sullivan brothers who died, along with 687 of their
shipmates when their ship was sunk on November 13, 1942.

Recognizing the Signs of Dementia
Monday, November 4 @ 10 am
Join Natalie McFarland BSN, RN, as she presents the symptoms of
dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, which can include memory loss, mood
swings, wandering, behavioral issues and language disorientation.

Pianist Anatoliy Torchinsky returns to the Library with another wonderful
classical piano program.
Old-Time Radio and the Great American Songbook
Sunday, November 17 @ 2 pm
Steve Darnall returns to present radio’s Great American Songbook.
This presentation features some of the greatest songwriters of the 20th
century as they were heard on radio, including Johnny Mercer, Irving
Berlin, Cole Porter and a rare 1934 performance from George Gershwin!

Emily Dickinson: I’m Nobody, Who Are You?

NoveList
Looking for a book similar to that great one you just finished?
NoveList just may be your solution. This database
is a comprehensive readers’ advisory resource. You
can find titles, articles, and lists for both fiction and
nonfiction.
NoveList can be found on our website in two locations.
1. You can take advantage of its full range of offerings through
the link found under:
Electronic Resources\General Research\NoveList.
2. The Read-alikes feature is available through the Library’s
catalog. Once you select a title, Read-alikes appear in a frame
on the right side.

Holiday Lights Recycling
November 22 - January 10
Have you started decorating for the
holidays?
As you go through those strings of lights, you are
bound to find some that don't work anymore. You
can again recycle those lights at the Library! Look
for the bin in the staff parking lot (across from the book returns).
Any holiday lights will be accepted by Elgin Recycling
(www.elginrecycling.com). And since the box is outside, you can
donate at any time that is convenient for you.

Bumble Bee Yoga
Tuesdays, Nov 12, 19 & 26 @ 11:30 am
This fun introduction to yoga will
teach basic poses. Stories and
games will be included to enhance
the experience. Children will also
learn calming techniques and
increase their strength and flexibility!
Yoga mats will be provided. Parents
will need to sign a waiver at the start
of the class. Ages 3-5. Registration is required. Space

This is a perfect program to introduce little ones to the library.
We’ll enjoy some good books, sing songs, dance, do
fingerplays and more! We’ll also make crafts which are related
to the theme of the day. A parent or caregiver must stay with
children during the program.

Sign up your newborn, infant or toddler for our 1000
Books Before Kindergarten program. This ongoing
program will help build your child’s
vocabulary, print awareness, early
literacy skills and more as you read
1000 books before they start their
first day of Kindergarten. Stop by the

up. Your child will get prizes along
