And since the box is outside, you can donate at any time that is convenient for you. Community Organization of the Month SCARCE SCARCE is a not-for-profit environmental education and resource rescue organization. We provide environmental education to kids and community members as well as projects to help people take action. The resources rescued (books, musical instruments, school and art supplies) are chosen by teachers and others serving people in need. 7.5 million books have been chosen by teachers and not-for- profit organizations since 1991! We want everyone to have the tools they need to reach their potential in a healthy world. Oddest items to come to SCARCE - a camel saddle, preserved sheep eyes (for dissection) and a brand new $5,000 microscope - Doctors Without Borders picked it up right away! What Can You Do to Get Involved? Volunteers are needed to help organize book collections, arrange and check educational materials and resources, make Super Crayons, assist teachers who come to SCARCE for much needed supplies, help at Recycling Extravaganzas and lots more! Visit scarce.org to find out how you can get involved! Have Questions? Stop by the Library on Monday, January 20 from 10-11 am to speak with a SCARCE representative or check out the “Where Is Away” exhibit in the lobby starting January 2. Congrats to Mary!
