DIY Virtual Yarn Pumpkin Craft for Adults Thursday, October 8 @ 11 am Pick up a pre-bagged craft with materials you need to make a festive fall pumpkin decoration. Nancy Alaks will provide an online tutorial to make this colorful creation. This program premieres on the Library’s Facebook page and YouTube channel on October 8 @ 11am. The Take & Make craft materials will become available to pick up the same day! Supplies will be limited. DIY Virtual Paracord Bracelets for Adults Thursday, October 22 @ 11 am Pick up a pre-bagged craft with materials you need to make a trendy paracord bracelet! Jean Carroll will provide an online tutorial to make this amazingly simple and fun craft. This program premieres on the Library’s Facebook page and YouTube channel on October 22 @ 11am. The Take & Make craft materials will become available to pick up the same day! Supplies will be limited. Virtual Programming Continues! Each program will be posted on our event calendar. You can watch each video on the Library’s YouTube channel and Facebook page at 11 am on the specified day. Book Donations Not Accepted We appreciate your willingness to donate your used books to the Library, but we ask that you hold off donating your materials for now. Our storage space is full. The Library will make an announcement when we can again accept book donations. Community Organization of the Month DuPagePads DuPagePads is the largest and only nonrestrictive provider of shelter, comprehensive services and supportive housing for individuals and families experiencing homelessness in DuPage County. The agency has received top awards for fiscal responsibility and best practices, including the coveted four-star rating from Charity Navigator. Fast Facts  This is the agency's 35th year of service to DuPage County.  The agency partners with more than 160 congregations, businesses and social service partners to provide meals and more than 4,000 volunteers for its 29 shelter locations.  Last year, DuPagePads served 1,351 individuals, including 265 children in 137 families. In total, the agency provided 38,989 nights of shelter and served 119,959 meals to prevent hunger. What Can You Do To Get Involved? Due to the ongoing pandemic. Document Shredding Saturday, October 3 @ 10 am - 12 pm Re/Max Enterprises and the LN Group are hosting a free paper shredding event in the Library’s North lot on Saturday, October 3 from 10 am to noon. We might not have any crafts for you to do at the Library this fall, but we do have crafts for you to do at home! Each Take & Make kit is created with a specific age group in mind. We will only have a limited quantity of each kit. They will be available on a first come, first served basis along with their accompanying storytime/activity video on the date that is stated. There is no reserving a kit. Once the kits are gone, we will post a notification on the Library’s Event Calendar. No reservations necessary. Virtual Storytime & Craft with Miss Theresa Fire, Fire! Hurry, Hurry! October 7 Recommended for ages 2 - 4 Join Miss Theresa for a special Fire Prevention Week theme. She will read some stories, sing a song, share some flannel board activities and present a craft. Supplies will be limited. Virtual Storytime & Craft with Miss Kristyn Pete the Cat! October 14 Recommended for ages 2 - 4 Join Miss Kristyn as she reads our favorite Pete the Cat stories. She will also show you a very cool Pete craft! This program premieres on the Library’s Facebook page and YouTube channel on Wednesday, October 14 @ 11 am. Virtual DIY Catapult Tutorial with Miss Brigitte Take & Make Activity October 21 Recommended for ages 6 & Up Miss Brigitte will guide you in making your very own catapult. Think of all the fun you can have sending pom-poms through the air at your friends! This program premieres on the Library’s Facebook page and YouTube channel on Wednesday, October 21 @ 11 am. The Take & Make supplies will become available to pick up the same day! Get yours ASAP! Supplies will be limited. Virtual Storytime & Craft with Miss Margaux Haunted Happenings! October 28 Recommended for ages 2 - 4 Tune in for a Halloween storytime and craft! Miss Margaux will read books, sing songs and do Halloween themed rhymes. After, follow along with our Halloween craft. Pick up supplies at the library, or use your own supplies from home. Happy Halloween!
