What’s Happening At Your Library
Library Fast Facts For January:
The building is closed to the public.
Curbside pickup is available.
Virtual programs are scheduled. Craft
supplies can be picked up curbside.

Winter Reading Program: Reading is Out of This World!
Now through February 27 we invite readers of all ages to participate in Reading is Out of
This World! Pick up your reading log or print one off at oak-brook.org/library.
Preschool-1st grade:
Complete either the activities or the reading log. Fill out your information on the grand prize
drawing ticket and select your prize. Return your finished log and ticket to the Library.
2nd-6th grade:
Complete the reading log. Fill out your information on the grand prize drawing ticket and select your prize.
Return your finished log and ticket to the Library.
6th-12th grade:
Complete the reading log. Fill out your information on the grand prize drawing ticket and select your prize.
Return your finished log and ticket to the Library.
Fill out as many logs as you would like. Your first reading log will earn you a grand prize drawing ticket and a
prize for finishing the program. Each additional log you fill out earns you another grand prize drawing ticket.
Adults:
Read five books and write a brief review to share with other patrons. Audiobooks, eBooks and print books
checked out through the Oak Brook Public Library are all acceptable. Submit your completed reading log to
receive a warm and toasty fleece blanket and also be entered into a drawing for a $25 Barnes & Noble gift
card, generously provided by the Friends of the Library!
The Library will be closed on
Friday, January 1.

Virtual Programs
Our storytimes and programs are available online through the
Library's YouTube page. Craft supplies and materials are
available through curbside pickup the day each program
premieres online.

Virtual Young Artist Workshop with Terri Murphy:
Agamograph Art
Monday, January 11
What is an agamograph? It’s a two
sided picture on an accordion folded
paper. From one angle you’ll see
your first drawing and from the other
angle, you see the second drawing. Challenging and fun!
Supplies for a take & make agamograph art will be available on
January 11. Recommended for ages 8 & up.
Virtual Storytime with Miss Margaux:
Outer Space
Monday, January 25 on YouTube
Zoom, Zoom, Zoom! Go to the moon this
week with Miss Margaux during storytime.
We'll read outer space-themed books & do a
craft to go with them. Take & make craft supplies are limited and
available curbside on January 25. Recommended for ages 3 &
up.

Virtual Young at Heart Artist Workshop for Adults
with Terri Murphy:
Winter White Landscape
Thursday, January 21
Draw a snowy winter scene with white
pencil on black paper. Terri’s step-by-step
video includes hints on shading, adding
decorative elements and using darks and
lights for visual impact. Kits include black
cardstock mounted on white,
cardboard picture support, white pencil, typography and cabin
sample pictures, decorative twig ensemble. Take & Make Kits
will become available on January 21.

Library is Launching into Fine Free!
Beginning January 1 the Library will permanently go
fine free!
No overdue fines on materials checked out at OBPL.
Existing overdue fines are waived.
All items 2 week check-outs,
5 auto-renewals if no holds.
Account is blocked if an item is 14
days overdue until returned (21 days
during COVID quarantine).
Items overdue for 42 days are
considered lost and billed at cost.
