Manager Ginex starts the discussion by saying that the 2021 budget has be greatly reduced, with there being only
$174,000 available. That figure is based on hotel tax receipt projections. He asks Rob Grusin to submit an agreement
that can be presented to the Village Board. Mr. Grusin says that he is working to putting an agreement together with
a budget amount of$139,000. A discussion regarding hotel usage and when things may go back to more normal and
what needs to happen to get there ensues. Rob Grusin shares a short"2021 Travel Forecast"presentation. He
highlights that people are optimistic about vaccines and eagerness to travel, with leisure travel leading the way.
Business with continue to be sluggish, and will not recover until 2023 or 2024. Point B's course of action will
primarily focus on leisure travel, it will be the best opportunity for more business in 2021. They will also spend a
small amount on the wedding market. Mr. Grusin goes through the different media where money will be spent. A
conversation continues regarding recovery times, travel trends and leisure opportunities. Rob Brand shares that they
have 97 weddings on the books for 2021. It will be key to get the capacity numbers up, so that things can open up,
since Illinois is losing business to surrounding states who have more relaxed restrictions. Beth Marchetti shares that
focus for DCVB will be on outdoor activities, she shares information on the new Morton Arboretum exhibit and that
the Frida Kahlo exhibit may still be happening. A conversation continues regarding incentives to get people to shop,
dine and stay. Suzanne Beres says that the mall is exploring the feasibility of becoming"dog friendly" as a way to
draw more people. Conversation ensues regarding the local hotels who allow pets, what is involved and the other
activities for pet families.
