Winter Reading Program Adventures in Reading - January 3 – March 5 Brrr! It’s cold outside! What better time is there to read? Our Winter Reading Programs for all ages begin on Monday, January 3. Reading logs will be available to print online or pick up, so everyone can get started! Complete the program to receive a finishing prize and be entered into a drawing for a grand prize. Movie Matinee Monday, Jan 3 @ 1 pm First Man Holiday Lights Recycling through January 15 You can recycle your broken or unwanted lights at the Library through our partnership with Elgin Recycling! Look for the bin in the staff parking lot (across from the book returns). You can drop off any time that is convenient for you. Only holiday lights are accepted. Please do not include other holiday decorations! Children’s Programs New Year’s Resolution: Mindfulness Virtual Storytime with Miss Jess Monday, January 3 Ages 3 + One of Miss Jess’ New Year’s Resolutions is practicing the creative movement of Yoga. Join her in the calming, strengthening & energizing practice of yoga! Yoga poses such as Tree, Dog, Cat & Butterfly will accompany storytelling, books & other fun activities. A Take & Make craft will be available on a first come, first served basis to pick up the day the program airs on the Library’s YouTube channel. Hockey Virtual Storytime & Craft with Miss Brigitte Monday, January 24 Ages 5+ Put the biscuit in the basket with Miss Brigitte in this hockey themed storytime! Tune in as she reads some stories about her favorite winter sport & then does a hat trick of a craft. Language Labs Virtual Class & Craft: Chinese New Year Monday, January 31 Ages 2 + Chinese New Year is the most important holiday in China that follows the Lunar Year. Join the Language Lab’s animated Chinese Story Time Teller, Julia Hsiah as she shares all the traditions that surround this wonderful, colorful and significant holiday. We will also share a beautiful craft for you to make at home that revolves around the Chinese New Year! The craft will be available on a first come, first served basis to pick up the day the program airs on the Library’s YouTube channel.
