Transfer Agreement
The undersigned, in consideration of the transfer of ownership and possession of the
German shepherd canine named "Becks" ("Canine") on December 14, 2021 does hereby agree
to the following terms and conditions:
1. 1 understand and acknowledge that the Canine has been trained in aggressive law
enforcement tactics and techniques.
2. 1 agree to pay the cost for any and all expenses associated with the transfer of ownership
of the Canine from the Village of Oak Brook (hereinafter referred to as the "Village") to
me, except that I acknowledge and understand that the Village will provide veterinary care
for the Canine for the 30 day period from December 14, 2021 through January 13, 2022,
after which period I will be solely responsible for the cost of all veterinary care for the
Canine.
3. 1 agree to and do hereby assume full risk and responsibility for any injuries, including death
and all costs, damages, and losses that I or any other person or entity may sustain as a
result of my acceptance, ownership, or possession of the Canine.
4. 1 agree to, and do hereby waive, release and relinquish all claims of every kind, known
and unknown, present or future, that I may have against the Village and its officers, agents,
servants, attorneys, and employees, arising out of, connected with, or in any way related
to, my acceptance, possession, or ownership of the Canine.
5. 1 agree to, and do hereby indemnify, hold harmless, and defend the Village and its officers,
agents, servants, attorneys, and employees from and against any and all claims of every
kind, known and unknown, present and future, that any person or entity may have arising
out of, connected with, or in any way related to, my acceptance, possession, or ownership
of the Canine.

AN ACT concerning law enforcement .
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
represented in the General Assembly:
Section 1 . Short title . This Act may be cited as the Police
Dog Retirement Act .
Section 5 . Police dog retirement . Notwithstanding any
provisions in the State Property Control Act to the contrary, a
police dog, including a search and rescue dog, service dog,
accelerant detection canine, or other dog that is in use by a
county, municipal, or State law enforcement agency, which is
deemed no longer fit for public service, shall be offered by
the law enforcement agency to the officer or employee who had
custody and control of the animal during its service. If the
officer or employee does not wish to keep the dog, this dog may
be offered to another officer or employee in the agency, or to
a non-profit organization or a no-kill animal shelter that may
facilitate an appropriate adoption of the dog.
