Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band Thursday, March 24 @ 6 pm The Beatles’ most well-known album turns 55 years old in 2022. In 2003, Rolling Stone Magazine ranked it #1 on their list of the Greatest Albums of All Time, while Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones recently called it "rubbish." With the use of interviews and performance clips, Gary Wenstrup will discuss the album's music, concept, packaging and the overwhelming world-wide reaction to its release. As John Lennon sang on the album “a splendid time is guaranteed for all." Winter Reading Program Adventures in Reading Ends March 5 There is still time to turn in your reading logs and collect your prize. Plus, readers of all ages will be entered into a drawing for a grand prize. You can search the following newspapers: Chicago Tribune (1849 - current) Los Angeles Times (1881 - current) The New York Times (1851 - current) The Wall Street Journal (1889 - current) The Washington Post (1877 - current) Whether you are looking for historical information or more recent articles, the Library has got you covered! Newspaper articles are updated daily at 9 am. Visit the Library’s website to start using the ProQuest databases. Children’s Programs National Library Week Bookmark Contest! March 1 – April 1 Celebrate National Library Week (April 3-9) with this groovy bookmark contest! Children of all ages can create a “Reading is Groovy” bookmark or come up with your own reading theme. The winners will receive a gift card to Michaels craft store as well as 12 laminated bookmarks of their design. The Library will also have the design winning bookmarks available for patrons at the Youth Services desk! Pick up an entry form at the Library and turn in your design by the first of April. The winners will be announced by the end of National Library Week! Feelin’ Groovy Virtual Storytime and Craft with Miss Brigitte Monday, March 7 Ages 4+ Get groovy with Miss Brigitte! She will read some hip books, listen to some music & do a super far out craft. A Take & Make craft will become available on a first come, first served basis to pick up the day the program airs on the Library’s YouTube channel. Spring Fling Virtual Storytime and Craft with Miss Theresa Monday, March 21 Ages 2+ We’re celebrating the first day of spring! Listen as Miss Theresa tells spring stories and sings songs. Of course, a Take & Make craft will become available on a first come, first served basis to pick up the day the program airs on the Library’s YouTube channel.
