Oak Brook Police Reports Success in Tobacco Compliance Checks
Oak Brook, IL—March 21, 2022 Oak Brook Police Detectives conducted compliance
checks on all tobacco retailers within the community. Oak Brook is pleased to report 100%
compliance.
The compliance checks determine if local tobacco retailers comply with Illinois minimum-
age tobacco laws that prohibit the sale of tobacco to persons under the age of 21. With the
help from a grant awarded by the Illinois Department of Human Service, Oak Brook Police
Department educates local tobacco retailers on minimum-age tobacco laws and the
importance of verifying the age of customers before selling age-restrictive products such
as tobacco.
"We will continue our efforts to achieve 100% compliance from all of our retailers and
ensure the children in our community do not have access to tobacco products in Oak
Brook," said Chief John Krull.
