To bring Edith to life, author Andrea Friederici Ross has teamed up with Ellie Presents to produce a two-woman show about Edith. Ellie will walk off the page as Edith to join Andrea as she discusses her book Edith: The Rogue Rockefeller McCormick and the extraordinary life it portrays. National Library Week April 3 - 9 Stop by the Library and celebrate National Library Week! We will have fun giveaways, themed displays and more. Freshly baked cookies will be provided by Pinstripes of Oak Brook on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. All giveaways are available on a first come, first served basis and quantities are limited. Movie Matinee Monday, April 4 @ 1 pm Jungle Cruise Introducing ArtistWorks ArtistWorks provides world-class instruction from Grammy Award-winning music professionals via the Libby app. Users can access a guided path of video lessons containing everything they need to reach their musical goals. Instruments include piano, guitar, mandolin, banjo, drums, violin, flute and many more. All levels of player can access hundreds of hours of high quality video instruction, studio quality play-along tracks and downloadable written materials, tablature and sheet music. Find ArtistWorks in the Libby app. Children’s Programs National Library Week Bookmark Contest! March 1 – April 1 Celebrate National Library Week (April 3-9) with this groovy bookmark contest! Children of all ages can create a “Reading is Groovy” bookmark or come up with your own reading theme. Winners will receive a gift card to Michaels craft store as well as 12 laminated bookmarks of their design. The Library will also have the design winning bookmarks available for patrons! Pick up an entry form and turn in your design by the first of April. The winners will be announced by the end of National Library Week! Hop, Bunny, Hop! Virtual Storytime and Craft with Miss Theresa Monday, April 4 Ages 2+ Spring is in the air! Join Miss Theresa as she reads about those cute cottontail bunnies, sings a song or two and shares a flannel board activity. She will guide young patrons in making a cute Take & Make craft which will become available to pick up on a first come, first served basis the same day the program airs on the Library’s YouTube Channel. Flamboyant Flamingos! Virtual Storytime with Miss Brigitte Monday, April 11 Ages 4+ Flap along with Miss Brigitte as she reads some books about these fabulously flamboyant birds & learn about being your grooviest self! A Take & Make craft will become available on a first come, first serve basis to pick up the day the program airs on the Library’s YouTube channel. Earth Day Virtual Storytime & Craft with Miss Margaux Monday, April 18 Ages 2+ For this Earth Day storytime, Miss Margaux will read a story and sing songs to go along with our theme. Then we will learn how to make an Earth Day craft together! Supplies are available at the Library on a first come, first served basis, so get them while you can! Pickup Crafts Need a fun activity at home? Stop by the Library for one of our fun crafts! They will be available on a first come, first served basis. Supplies are limited, so don’t wait! Teen Volunteer Program The Library offers volunteer opportunities to current and incoming high school students. Volunteer duties include assisting library staff with material handling and sorting, helping librarians with in-person children’s programming like story times and contributing book reviews. How & When to Apply Volunteer Session Application Window June through August Apr. 15 – May 15 (Summer Session) October through January Aug. 15 – Sept. 15 (Winter Session) February through April Dec. 15 – Jan. 15 (Spring Session) Applications for the 2022 summer volunteer session will be available April 15 online and in the Library.
